Moon Byul (Korean: 문별; Japanese: ムンビョル) is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter and actress under RBW. She is a member of the girl group MAMAMOO and its sub-unit MAMAMOO+ and a former member of the project girl group Girls Next Door.
She made her solo debut on May 23, 2018 with the digital single "Selfish".
Career
2014: MAMAMOO
Moon Byul made her debut with MAMAMOO on June 18, 2014, with the mini album Hello.
2017: Girls Next Door
She participated in the KBS variety show Idol Drama Operation Team and became a part of the project group created by the show, a girl group named Girls Next Door.[1]
2018-2020: Solo debut with "Selfish", Dark Side of the Moon, 門oon : Repackage
On May 23, 2018, she made her solo debut, releasing "Selfish". The digital single's title track, also named "Selfish", features Seulgi. [2]
Moon Byul released "Weird Day" on February 4, 2020, as a pre-release track for her upcoming mini album Dark Side of the Moon. The mini album was released on February 14. The title track, "Eclipse", evokes a battle between the light and the dark side.[3]
The mini album's repackage, 門oon : Repackage, was released three months later, on May 29.
2021–2022: 6equence, "C.I.T.T (Cheese in the Trap)", "The Present"
On December 7, 2021, it was announced that Moon Byul will release her new mini album 6equence on January 19, 2022. The album features two pre-release tracks "G999" and "Shutdown", which were released on December 13 and December 30, respectively.[4]
On March 29, 2022, RBW confirmed Moon Byul is preparing for an April comeback.[5] On April 12, a schedule teaser was revealed for Moon Byul's first single album, "C.I.T.T (Cheese in the Trap)", to be released on April 28.[6]
On December 8, a teaser was revealed for Moon Byul's special single album, "The Present", to be released on December 22.[7]
2024: Starlit of Muse, First world tour, Starlit of Twinkle
On January 23, 2024, a logo motion video was released for Moon Byul's first full-length album Starlit of Muse, set for release on February 20.[8]
On February 29, her first solo world tour Moon Byul 1st World Tour [Museum : An Epic of Starlit], was announced. [9] The first show was held in Seoul on March 23.
On July 26, it was announced that she will be releasing the repackage of her first full-length album Starlit of Twinkle, slate to release for August 21.[10]
2025: Japanese debut
On December 5, 2024, it was announced that she will make her Japanese debut with the single "Aurora", set for release on February 5, 2025.[11]

- She is close friends with Red Velvet's Seulgi.[16]
- Seulgi is featured on Moon Byul's solo debut song "Selfish" and also appears in the accompanying music video.[2]
- She was the only member of the project group Girls Next Door that used a handheld mic, while all other members used a headset mic.[citation needed]
- She's known as "Conservative Moon" due to her wearing long-sleeved clothing. She sometimes scolds the members for wearing revealing clothing.[citation needed]
- Due to her sweating a lot, she got the nickname "Black Hole".[citation needed]

- She played MapleStory. At a fan signing event on February 21, 2020, she told her fans that she played hard on her character at Burning World (server) in MapleStory, but couldn't move it to another server because she wasn't on the levels.[18]
