"Hot Mess" is the debut Japanese single by aespa. It was released on July 3, 2024 with "Hot Mess" serving as the single's title track.
The physical album comes in three versions: Limited, Hot Mess and Poster.
Background
On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that aespa will be releasing a Japanese single in the third quarter of the year.[1] On May 20, aespa announced that they will debut in Japan with the single "Hot Mess" on July 3.[2]
Composition
"Hot Mess" is described as a dance song with a strong impact with the saxophone's signature sound and rough rap, and the lyrics with the independent message of 'I live as I am' will deliver aespa's positive energy.[3]
"Sun and Moon" is described as a R&B song with a sweet and gentle atmosphere, and the lyrics say that we can shine a bright light on the future together.[3]
