“ | Zo: I do not grieve for a god or a machine, but because I no longer know what to believe. Aloy: Look, Zo, if you want you can go back home. Zo: Do I still have one? And if so, for how long? Can you really heal our lands? Save my people? |

~ Zo ironically uttering Erik's famous quote after killing the latter. |
Zo is one of the four deuteragonists (alongside Varl, Erend Vanguardsman and Kotallo) of the 2022 video game Horizon Forbidden West.
She is a member of the agrarian Utaru tribe in one of the Forbidden West's settlements known as Plainsong, who works as the tribe's Gravesinger. She is also the lover of the Nora Brave Varl. However, after one of the Utaru's "Land-Gods", a Plowhorn known as Fa, was turned into a weaponized machine known as a Grimhorn, Zo, Aloy, and Varl would defeat the now-rogue Land-God, as well as defeating the rogue GAIA Subordinate Function known as HEPHAESTUS inside Repair-Bay TAU.
Due to her actions of destroying a Land-God being deemed as an anathema towards the Utaru, Zo later temporarily defected with Aloy's team to a building known as The Base, located above Repair-Bay TAU, and joined in on their ventures in their fight against Far Zenith.
She is voiced and motion-captured by Erica Luttrell, who voiced other characters including Sapphire from Steven Universe and Emily Kaldwin from Dishonored 2.
Appearance
Zo is a young woman with dark complexion and black hair in a bun who appears to be in her early thirties. Her face, upper back, and right arm are all covered in white paint in Utaru-style designs.
Zo is dressed in a sleeveless knee-length tunic, which is characteristic of Utaru clothing but is off-white rather than the normal lush green. She wears a large woven hat with leaves trailing behind her from the front in the wilds and villages.
She is also seen wearing a Focus on her right temple when Aloy gave her one.
Personality
Zo is a soft-spoken woman who hides her convictions and fighting energy behind her kind demeanour. She prefers to fight for the greater good rather than passively accept fate, which has caused her to clash with the Chorus.
Vegetarianism, botany, singing, veneration for the Land-Gods, and keeping linked to the soil and cycle of life are among Zo's Utaru traditions. While her revelation of the terraforming mechanism and GAIA caused her considerable distress, she was eventually able to utilise her culture and philosophy to counteract her newfound knowledge.
Abilities
While her Utaru ties have caused some to dismiss her (such as Erend and Kotallo), Zo's mobility and archery prowess make her a deadly opponent. Her combat ability is comparable to Erend's, and sparring between the two has resulted in a stalemate. She enjoys music and gardening, as do many others in her tribe.
Zo rapidly learned how to read ancient glyphs thanks to her time with GAIA, and she now has a basic grasp of Old Ones culture, history, and technology.
