Liteiria is a location introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray.

Overview

A modified O'Neill-type Island 3 colony similar to Mendel. The Liteiria colony is not affiliated with any nation, and like the Orb Union, it accepts both Naturals and Coordinators into its population, as is seeks to create a society where humans of all genetic types could live together in peace. Although originally located within the Earth Sphere, the war between the Earth Alliance and PLANT prompted the colony to move it to Jupiter. With the secret assistance from Junk Guild, Liteiria was equipped with massive thermonuclear pulse thruster, which allows the colony to propel itself far beyond the Earth Sphere and out of reach of any Earth-based conflicts.

History

During the First Alliance-PLANT War, Liteiria became a sanctuary for both Naturals and Coordinators who wanted to escape the conflict. As its location was considered strategically unimportant, both the Earth Alliance and PLANT ignored the colony for the most part. However, in C.E. 71, as the war began to escalate, Liteiria's population decided to relocate to Jupiter and establish a peaceful colony where George Glenn discovered the mysterious fossil Evidence 01. To accomplish this, they secretly hired the Junk Guild to install a massive thermonuclear pulse thruster on their colony.

Around the same time, Serpent Tail mercenaries Gai Murakumo and Elijah Kiel arrived at the colony. Inside the colony, Lowe and the other Junk techs met with the head of Liteiria's conversion project, Liam's brother Sinisto Garfield. When they learned about the colonists' intentions, the Earth Alliance dispatched a fleet to the colony. However, Lowe Guele and Liam Garfield, along with Gai and Elijah, fought off the fleet to give Liteiria time to escape.
