In role-playing games, spell rank refers to the rank of any given spell, which increases its usefulness. Spells with higher ranks may cost more in exchange for causing more damage, healing, or buffing/debuffing effects. Depending on the game, spell ranks may be obtained when reaching a certain level or unlocking certain criteria such as casting a spell 'x' amount of times. Other games may require you to seek out an npc to learn higher ranks.
