Belarus (officially the Republic of Belarus) is a landlocked country in Europe. Its capital is Minsk and the country is bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. It was one of the founding members of the Soviet Union in 1922, and seceded from the Soviet Union in 1991 prior to its dissolution via the signing of the Belavezha Accords, to which Belarus was a signatory.
