Plot
The episode starts with Fred in class, introducing the audience to the class hamster named Hamlet. Bertha questions Fred on how Hamlet is a better friend than her, Fred then pulls out a chart of his friends and their rankings, and says that Hamlet is a better listener than her.
Fred's teacher gets called to the office and puts Fred in charge of the class. Fred is very excited about this and starts dancing and yelling around the classroom. While he is doing this, the power goes off for a second, and Fred's beloved hamster is dead. Fred then locks the door and lets no one leave until the person responsible for the murder is found.
Fred starts to investigate the crime scene and look for clues. Fred now blames four people for the murder. Eloise, because her army of ants could fit through the cage. Diesel, because his headphones could fit through a hole in the cage to electrocute Hamlet. Bertha, because her pencil could have had poison on the tip. Lastly, Kevin, because his pinky is the exact size of the hole in the cage.
Fred now starts to use interrogation methods to find the culprit. The interrogations do not work, so Fred brings in another witness, Goldy the Goldfish. Before Goldy can help the investigation, the power once again goes out and comes back on to reveal that Goldy is missing. The rest of the class starts ganging up on the four suspects, until they start blaming Fred. Everyone is now confused and starts to argue. Bertha states that whoever killed Hamlet must not like hamsters, which gives Fred the idea to dress up as a giant hamster and terrorize people in a large hamster ball.
At this point, the teacher has come back and is trying to get into the locked classroom. Fred has finally gotten out of the hamster ball and has accidentally hit against the hamster cage, waking Hamlet up and proving that he was alive the whole time. Goldy isn't gone, she just likes to jump out of her bowl while pretending that she is a sea world star. Now Fred's classmates are mad at him for blaming them for murder. The episode ends with his classmates stuffing him into the hamster cage.
