Bertha is Fred's best friend.
In the first movie she is portrayed by Jennette McCurdy, but in all subsequent appearances she is played by Daniella Monet who played Trina Vega (Tori’s Older Sister) In Victorious.
Physical Appearance
In the first film, Bertha has black hair and blue eyes. In later appearances, she has dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Bertha typically dresses in a goth/scene fashion; she wears lots of patterns and colors as well as lots of jewelry and accessories. She also dyes parts of her hair in various colors and wears it in different styles.
History
In the web series, Bertha is a girl that Fred meets in "Fred Meets Bertha," by virtue of their moms being drinking buddies. She is supposedly pretty and is a popular second grader at Fred's school. This was her only voiced appearance in the web series.
Bertha was mentioned in "Fred's Mom Returns", when Fred recalls when they were playing in her basement and pretending to be living underground-- and she manages to scare Fred in the dark.
In the movie trilogy, she has a bigger role as Fred's best friend and accomplice to his plans. In the first movie, she helps him create the illusion of a big party to fool their peers. In the second movie, she assists Fred in trying to prove Mr. Devlin is a vampire and later trying to convince everyone that Fred was the vampire.
Personality
In the web series, Fred says she's nice to him. However, she also appears to be a troublemaker that tells Fred to do bad things, like throwing a beer bottle at a car and pushing an old guy in a wheelchair into a wall ("Fred Meets Bertha").
In the movies and the TV show, she is shown to be cynical, sarcastic, and has a dry sense of humor. She also does not seem to care about what anyone thinks. Bertha is also shown to be more of a logical and competent person, managing to disguise herself convincingly as a waitress in the second movie when they were following Mr. Devlin and having a backup plan for when her and Fred's home ec project was ruined. She also, on multiple occasions, uses the phrase "Bertha's gonna brap!"

Trivia
- Their moms were likely friends, as Fred mentioned they went to the bar together ("Fred Meets Bertha") and Fred's mom had given Bertha's mom all her beer when she went to rehab.
- In the web series, Bertha seems to be the only person Fred hangs out with.
- Fred is implied to have a crush on Bertha in the web series.
- She doesn't appear in the animated series.
- In the first movie, she creates her own variation of Pig Latin, adding '-ong' at the end of each consonant
- Ex: 'wimp' = 'wong-i-mong-pong'
- At the end of the episode of Fred: The Show, "Fred's All-Nighter", Bertha's last name is shown to be "Friendofred" on the grade chart.
- On the Nick website for the first movie, Bertha's character description states that she is Fred's next-door neighbor. However, this seems to have been retconned in the second movie, as Mr. Devlin moves in next door, and Fred and Bertha are never seen walking to or from school together on Fred's street. In her character description for the second movie, it simply says that she is Fred's neighbor.
- In the episode "Fred Gets a Pet", it is revealed that Bertha takes ballet lessons.
