Sihyeon (시현) is the leader and lead vocalist of the K-pop girl group ΣVΣRGLOW.
Career
2016: Produce 101
Sihyeon first came into the public eye as a contestant on season 1 of Produce 101. She auditioned as an independent trainee, and ended up placing 40 on episode 8, when she was eliminated. Shortly after the show ended, she signed a contract with Chinese Entertainment agency, Yuehua in order to train as a trainee under their label.
2018: Produce 48
After two years of training, she participated on Produce 48, along with fellow Yuehua trainees Yiren and future member of IZ*ONE, Choi Yena. She placed 27 and was eliminated on episode 11.
2019: ΣVΣRGLOW Debut
Several months later, Yuehua announced their new girl group EVERGLOW, and revealed Sihyeon to be the first member of the group just a day later. She debuted with EVERGLOW on March 18, 2019 with their debut single album "Arrival of Everglow" and its title track "Bon Bon Chocolat".
2020–2021: The Show
On February 7, 2020, Sihyeon was announced as one of the new hosts for SBS' The Show, alongside Juyeon and Kim Min Kyu.[2] On February 2, 2021, it was announced that all three MCs will be stepping down following the February 2 broadcast of the show.[3]
Following the release of EVERGLOW's third single album Last Melody, it had been announced that the leadership position, originally held by E:U, would be passed onto Sihyeon.[4]
Personal life
Health
On December 1, 2020, Yue Hua Entertainment shared that Sihyeon and Yiren had been diagnosed with COVID-19. As a result, all remaining EVERGLOW members and their staff would go on voluntary self-isolation for two weeks. The group had recently recorded an episode of Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook with a few other artists, but they all tested negative.[5]
On January 9, 2021, Yue Hua Entertainment that both Sihyeon and Yiren were out of isolation and tested negative on a final COVID-19 test. Thus, they were cleared to return to group promotions.
