Foresta arc

After Jesse is exposed as an agent of Galactic Intelligence Agency by Elsie in front of her crew, Hyoga and Gowen appears on the bridge of the Skull Fairy and reveals that they helped their leader in finding out the spy. Hyoga comments that he suspects that it is just a coincidence that the Interstellar Union Army fleet led by Justice found them in the Coral Sector, as none of the information was leaked from the ship. However, he and Gowen start bickering over who Elsie came to for help first, stopping when Jesse lividly declares that she will never beat the Interstellar Union Army, upsetting the Princess Guards. After Jesse is ejected in a pod from the Skull Fairy back to Justice and his fleet, Hyoga agrees with Gowen about doing better background checks for every new member of the crew and states that this would not have happened if Elsie did not just take anyone who comes along. Though the two simply concede with their leader's insistence to continue welcoming new members into the Skull Fairy and follow the example of the Edens Zero being a family. When Elsie sets the course for Foresta, Hyoga comments that the food on the Verdant Planet is to die for.[4]

Upon arriving on the Verdant Planet, Hyoga answers that he does not know when Elsie asks about where the delicious food she heard about earlier while staring at the mob of hostile robots confronting them. He notes that Elsie's assumption that the bots are angry because they are space pirates to not be the problem and deduces that the bots have lost their reason which Elsie agrees.[5] He and Gowen are flustered when they see Elsie using Star Drain to visibly transform her outfit with Foresta's Ether, and scolds Behrman to never look at their leader like that.[6] Under Elsie's orders to rescue Homura from custody[7], Hyoga and Gowen confront Victory and Creed who are on their way back to the Angel Feather. Hyoga informs the two Interstellar Union Army soldiers that they are taking back the box holding Homura inside. He tells Gowen that it is not the time to get upset about Victory calling them Elsie's #2 and #3. Hyoga uses Ice Wall to block Creed's attempt to imprison them with Ether Lock, explaining that his ice can block psychokinetic Ether. He declares to Creed that victory will be theirs on their honor as the Princess Guard, and explains to the bespectacled soldier that their creed is their belief in Elsie that drives them forward.[8] Suddenly, when the Verdant Planet is affected by Xenolith's Magimech Attack: Gravity Center on a massive scale, Hyoga is surprised, kneeling on the ground from the intense gravity.[9]
After the intense gravity is gone, Hyoga notes that it is gravity he sensed. He witnesses Creed releasing Homura from his Ether Lock to save her from being stomped on by Victory in his giant form. Hyoga tells a bemused Gowen that technically the soldiers are "the good guys". After Victory states that Homura's association with the space pirates gives them right to lock her up, Hyoga with a glare retorts that he does not know who gave them the right but they have no intention of yielding to a power that would steal their freedom. When Homura escapes with her friends, he smiles and says that her crew is just ahead of her as she thanks them for their help. Hyoga then tells Gowen that it is time to retreat as he is concerned about their leader.[10]
Back at the Skull Fairy, Hyoga is glad that the Crew of Edens are alright after Elsie tells them to thank her Princess Guards. After the Armored Space Pirates explains to Shiki and his friends about the Oración Seis Interstellar, Hyoga comments that they are a load of trouble to space pirates while Gowen guesses that they are a helpful bunch for normal law-abiding space voyagers.[11]
