"We are the shining people; our creed is the wool and torch, our prayer the fire against winter."
- Lady Adhelm(src)
Olaud's Hutches (at times simply called the Hutches)[1] was a town (or similar settlement) in Sanctuary.
Lore
Olaud's Hutches was located somewhere within a snowy region.[1] Its inhabitants referred to themselves as "the shining people,"[2] and possessed a collectivist culture. Theft was frowned upon, even from the dead.[1][3] Cannibalism was practiced, as the flesh of the dead, even family members, was not to be wasted.[4] Their faith revolved around wool, fire, and winter.[2]
Banishment was a punishment for theft, but the offenders could return to the village if they could prove their "fellow feeling" in regards to the chill.[3]
Creeds
- They who would shed the blood of their kin, to let it steam upon the snow, are forever forbidden in the Hutches.[1]
- To take the warmth of your neighbors is forbidden, for so long as they breathe we may together endure the chill of winter.[3]
- The lives of family are not yours to waste.[4]
- Warmth in winter is grander than any sin.[5]
