Character origins
Further information: The Princess and the Frog
He is the prince of Maldonia, who travels to New Orleans after being short of money. Dr. Facilier tricks him by pretending to help him with his financial problems, but ends up transforming Naveen into a frog. After that, Naveen meets Tiana, and seeing her dressed as a princess, thinks that if she kisses him he will become human again. But since Tiana is only wearing a costume, it is she who ends up transformed into a frog.
After getting lost in the bayou, the two are guided by Louis the alligator to find Mama Odie, a sorceress who might be able to help them. After finding her, Mama Odie shows them that Charlotte, Tiana's friend, can help them by kissing Naveen while she is the Mardi Gras princess.
After returning to New Orleans and having problems with Facilier, he reunites with Charlotte, who kisses Naveen, but it is too late as Mardi Gras is over. Still as frogs, Mama Odie ends up marrying Tiana and Naveen, and, thanks to her becoming a princess through this union, after kissing them both become humans again. After that, Tiana fulfills her dream of opening a restaurant, which she and Naveen take over.
