History

Evergreen started out as a railroad town, located in Northern Eastern Virginia state just South West of Annandale. Near the end of the 19th Century, Edward Prudence set up an insurance company, and that would soon become the city's claim to fame. After Prudence became one of the largest insurers in 1909, more companies sprung up or settled in the city.^[1]

After Hal Jordan left his job at Ferris Aircraft, he became an insurance salesman for the Evergreen Insurance Company for a brief period.^[2] Green Lantern and Green Arrow Green Arrow had a brief passing through Evergreen City when they traveled around the country with the Guardian Appa Ali Apsa, dubbed as "Old-Timer."^[3]

When this Guardian went insane, he brought communities from different planets to form his perfect "Mosaic" word on Oa. Evergreen was among the displaced cities.^[4] Even after the "Old-Timer" was defeated, John Stewart remained on the Mosaic to oversee the coexistence of the different species.^[5]
