Matilda is Claymore No. 41 of Clare's generation.
Etymology
"Matilda" is a transliteration of the Japanese "Matiruda" (マチルダ, pronounced "mot-i-re-da").
From the Germanic "Mahthildis," meaning "strength in battle," from the elements "maht" (might or strength)" and "hild" (battle). Compare to "Hilda."
Appearance
Matilda's hair seems to be slightly layered and falls just below her neck, and she seems to have the sides of her hair slightly angled twords her face. Almost similar to those of the twin trainees in Clarice's generation.
Plot
She is one of the 24 Claymores sent to fight in the Northern Campaign. She was in Veronica's team along with Cynthia (#14), Helen (#22) and Pamela (#35).
During the first battle Matilda and the rest of Veronica's team arrive as back-up for Jean's team, helping them to kill the flying Awakened Being. Matilda was unable to injure him, leaving Jean, Veronica, Cynthia and Helen to kill it.
Matilda, like many other Claymores, was killed by Isley's Awakened beings, lead by Rigardo, during the second battle.
