Kale

Kale is the first of twelve minor cities of the southern continent – all found between Padora and the Temple of Travellers' Repose, and all north of the equator – which the greatly-reduced Black Company rapidly passed through in Shadow Games. This occurred during their southward journey toward their fabled origin of Khatovar after the Battle of the Barrowland.

Padora is the nearest city to its north, and Fratter is the nearest city south of Kale.

Croaker records nothing distinctive about Kale in his Annals except that its name, as well as the names of Fratter, Grey, and Weeks, were all echoes from his childhood, as he had been born in Padora. He also mentioned that the Company might have served Kale or been its foe without specifying which.
