Justin

"Anything for my favorite barnacle scrapers!"
Justin, Angry Birds: Captain Badburger

Justin (also called Shipwrecker[1] by sailors) is a giant sea serpent. He works under Captain Badburger as his favorite monster pet, but is secretly a sensitive and passive soul.

Appearance

Justin is a long sea serpent coated in green scales and two huge yellow eyes.[1] He has eight dark spots on his head varying in size, and fins around his head. He also has a blowhole on his forehead and rows of sharp teeth.

Personality

Despite working under a merciless pirate captain, Justin is surprisingly gentle[2]. Justin is a pacifist and vegetarian, and is forced to pretend to eat people to keep up his fierce reputation[3]. He is also very ticklish when being scrapped for barnacles.[4]

Media appearance

Angry Birds Magazine Issue 3

In Captain Badburger's story, Justin is present when the captain captures a duo of elderly Minion Pigs, and helps bring them aboard.

Angry Birds: Captain Badburger

Justin appears once again appears as Badburger's lackey. when Badburger brings Chuck and Stella aboard, Chuck is able to befriend Justin by giving him an exceptional scraping job[5]. This works in the duo's favor as they're later able to use their status as Justin's favorite barnacle scrappers to convince him to take them and The Eggs back to the Cobalt Plateaus during the story's climax.

Relationships

Captain Badburger

Justin is Badburger's trusty companion, and arguably the only reason Badburger is any real threat. While the captain is far less dangerous in combat than he looks, Justin's presence alone is enough to get would-be foes to think twice before an attack. Justin also acts as Captain Badburger's steed, making up for the captain's lackluster sailing skills, especially after the Saucy Pickle (Which realistically was long past due to be sank given what we see it go through in this book alone) was finally done in by Stella when aiding Brian in his escape. Justin keeps the fact that he doesn't actually kill and eat people a secret from Badburger in order to keep up his reputation.

Chuck And Stella

The two birds are able to get on Justin's good side relatively early thanks to Chuck's super speed. Justin is very grateful for their services, leading him to aid them in their exploits. Stella and Chuck are able to convince Justin to act against Badburger, although this seems to be more out of Justin's naive and passivist nature rather than disloyalty.

Trivia

  • Captain Badburger claims that Justin is the last of the Great Serpents[1], but when Captain Bigbeard claims to have seen other serpents recently, Badburger doesn't object[6], implying that he may be lying.
