When players log onto Adopt Me!, they are required to select the role of a parent or a baby to start playing. Based on the role chosen, players are granted a color in the chat area. Players who choose parent are red, and players who choose baby are blue.
Login Bonus
- Main article: Daily Reward
When players log in every 15 hours, they receive a daily login bonus known as the Daily Reward. This system allows them to claim the following day's reward early. If players choose to do so, they must wait 1 day and 15 hours for the next reward. Otherwise, they can collect the Daily Reward within 15 hours. Previously, players could only collect after this time limit, but it was changed to accommodate players' schedules.
If a player logs in every day, they can continue their streak for up to five days, where on the fifth day, the player receives a Gift and 12-20 stars, and the rewards restart. Every 30 days, players receive a Cracked Egg.
When a player has obtained a certain amount of stars, they can claim a reward. These rewards include toys, vehicles, pets, and a Golden Egg (or Diamond Egg if the player has claimed a Golden Egg at least once) at 660 stars.

Pets and Babies
Bucks can be earned when the player takes care of themselves as a Baby, taking care of Babies as a Parent, or taking care of a pet. Players receive tasks to complete, which can be viewed at the top of the screen. Being the baby and equipping a pet doubles the amount of money players can earn.
Objectives
- Dirty: Players can complete this task by purchasing and interacting with a shower or bathtub inside their house. Players can also use showers at the Campsite once they receive the "Camping" task.
- Hungry: Players can complete this task by interacting with food items or a pet feeder.
- Thirsty: Players can complete this task by interacting with drink items or a pet feeder.
- Sleepy: Players can complete this task by interacting with beds in areas such as the School or their house.
There are also orange objectives. All of these tasks aside from 'Sick', require players to go to an area for a certain amount of time. These tasks are only available for a limited amount of time and reward more Bucks.
- Bored: Go to the Playground. Boredom can also be cured by playing the piano at a player's house.
- Camping: Go to the Campsite.
- Beach Party: Go to the Beach Party.
- School: Go to the School.
- Sick: Go to the Hospital. There are three ways for a player to heal themselves at the Hospital: talking to Doctor Heart, consuming Healing Apples, or sitting on an operation bed.
- Pizza Party: Go to the Pizza Shop.
- Salon: Go to the Salon.
There are some objectives that only pets can receive.
- Catch: This task can be completed by equipping and using a throw toy with the pet.
- Potty: This task can be completed by bringing a pet to a fire hydrant around the Adoption Island or Neighborhood, or interacting with a toilet or litter box furniture item.
- Ride: This task can be completed by riding a pet or equipping a vehicle or stroller and transporting the pet with it.
- Walk: This task can be completed by walking around with the pet.
- Pet Me: This task can be completed by entering the needs menu and clicking and dragging the cursor over the pet.
Every so often, a 3x Bucks and XP bonus will be offered to the player if they fulfill a specific item request for the catch, ride, walk, hungry, and thirsty tasks.
Occasionally, players will be prompted to choose their pet's next task, which causes a purple circle with a white question mark in the middle to appear. When selected, they can then choose one of three random tasks. The sick task as well as any task the pet already has cannot be chosen.
During events, there are special ailments. These were only available for a limited amount of time, and currently, players cannot receive any of these.
- Graveyard: This ailment replaced the "Bored" ailment during the Halloween Event (2019). Players could go to the Graveyard to complete the task or play minigames there to obtain
Candy.
- Haunted House: This ailment replaced the "School" ailment during the Halloween Event (2019). Players could go to the Haunted House to complete the task or teach their pets or hunt for ghosts.
- Ice Skating: Skate over the frozen lake and collect the gingerbread men scattered over the ice while avoiding penguins during the Christmas Event (2019). Upon bumping into a penguin, players lost some gingerbread men, the amount depending on how much they had collected so far.
- Training Reindeer: Go to the stables in the Winter Village during the Christmas Event (2019) and select a reindeer. Players needed to fly the reindeer to obtain gingerbread men. The reindeer could only fly for a limited amount of time, so if players injure them by crashing them onto the ground, they would have lost
200.
- Moon: Travel to the Moon during the Lunar New Year (2025). Players could travel there to complete the task and collect
Shooting Stars.
Trading
- Main article: Trade System
Trading is a main gameplay feature in Adopt Me! which allows users to exchange their items for other players' items. Until November 5, 2020, players were only able to trade 4 items at once. After the Trading Update was released, this limit was increased to 9 items. On May 5, 2023, the limit was increased to 18 items, along with the addition of trade chat notifications which allows players to keep track of changes made within a trade.
In order to trade Ultra-Rare and Legendary items, players are required to own a Trade License, which can be obtained by taking the Trade License test. The Trade License test takes place at the Safety Hub, where players can also access the Trade Book to view trade history and learn about trading safely to prevent scams.
