Blake[1] (born: April 13, 2000 (2000-04-13) [age 25]),[3] better known online as Yumi (pronounced "yummy"), is an American[2] gaming YouTuber. He also uploads a variety of other videos across his two channels.

In addition to his gaming content, Yumi has been known since late 2020 for his appearances in Discord videos by isaacwhy and Softwilly. He is a former member of The Group with them, LarryCroft, BigT, and Grunk. He has since left The Group due to him & Softwilly being unable to work alongside eachother peacefully.[4][5]

Yumi's wide array of content and connection to a significant amount of creators have helped him as his main channel boasts over 1.3 million subscribers and 100 million video views as of November 2022.[citation needed]

Content

The content on Yumi's main channel mainly consists of gaming videos, many of which are centered around Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. He also uploads videos on other random games, commonly featuring other content creators such as SMii7Y, Grizzy, McNasty, and Blarg.[citation needed]

On TooYumi, he uploads more reaction-based content. These videos commonly feature Yumi reacting to compilation videos by users such as Daily Dose Of Internet, or other users who gather strange and/or funny videos. Though, TooYumi uploads the occasional gaming video as well.[citation needed]

On June 24, 2023 he made a music channel called Yumi Music where he uploads his songs from his own album. These songs are from his album 'Lost'. There's a theory that he will drop a new album called 'Found'. After he posted a tweet on September 28, 2024 at 6:30 a.m. that said 'I am no longer a part of "The Group"', everyone was shocked and flabbergasted. With Grizzy(Nelson) posted a tweet saying 'Okay... drop the album bro' making the theory more strong. As well as the members(The Group) not being so sad. They even make jokes about it.

Recently in July 11, 2023, Yumi created a new channel called YumiVODS. In this channel, he uploads the long version videos based of games he played, either he's going to upload the edited version on the main channel or not.

History

Yumi created his channel on July 24, 2012. His first currently public video was uploaded on June 8, 2016.[6] He did not gain much traction at first, but would slowly become more popular as he posted more Rainbow Six Siege videos.

In April 2017, he uploaded one of his first videos to gain major traction, garnering over 1 million views.[7] The direct sequel to this video, uploaded in September 2017, generated even more popularity.[8] Yumi eventually reached 100,000 subscribers in April 2018.[citation needed]

By late 2018, Yumi was consistently uploading videos that gained significant traction. In May 2019, he launched a second channel, known as TooYumi. On this channel, he would begin to upload more variety content, with a focus on reaction-based videos. TooYumi's first video was uploaded on May 14, 2019.[9] In the same month, Yumi's main channel soared past 500,000 subscribers, making him an established creator in the gaming scene.[citation needed]

Yumi reached 1 million subscribers in July 2020. Around that time, in mid-2020, is when he started talking to members of The Group. He began appearing in videos by isaacwhy and Softwilly later that year. In addition to his gaming career, Yumi was now gaining notoriety for his partaking in shenanigans on Discord with some of his friends.[citation needed]

Music career

Yumi is also known for his music. He began releasing music in 2021 and has been featured in the music projects of isaacwhy and Softwilly, performing in Softwilly's albums Actin' Up, Donna, and Contraband, as well as Isaac's album Fart. He released his debut solo album, Lost, on July 21, 2023.[citation needed]

Personal life

Blake grew up in the U.S. state of Georgia,[10] and was raised in a Christian family.[11] In 2019, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In March 2022, he moved to Tennessee.[12] In November 2022, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he currently resides, with isaacwhy, Softwilly, LarryCroft, and BigT.[13][14]

Recently, on late September 2024, he has moved out and has cut off contact with The Group,[4][15] most likely due to a falling out with Softwilly.[5] Despite this, Yumi will be continuing to be in isaacwhy's videos.[16]
