Wu Jin was an elder within the Long Zii tong who was assassinated for speaking out against Mai Ling.
Biography
Assassinated by Mai Ling
Wu Jin and the elders meet with Mai Ling to discuss Muchen's plot to kill Li Yong, which was fortunately foiled by Kong Pak. The surviving members of the Three Brothers tong will be sworn into the Long Zii soon, but the elders are skeptical. Wu Jin wonders how they can ensure their loyalty. Kong Pak eases the elders' concerns, explaining that Muchen ruled by fear and that now that he's gone, his hatchets will fall in line.[1]
Upon learning that Mai Ling has been arrested, Li Yong would like to approach the Six Companies, but Wu Jin replies that the Six Companies won't help them, which he doesn't blame them for after learning that Mai Ling invested their money without their permission. Her recklessness has left them weak, and they'd be better served leaving Mai Ling in jail.[2]
After Mai Ling is released and marries Li Yong, the elders request to speak with him. They hope that he will use his voice and new-found position to manage Mai Ling's more reckless impulses. However, Li Yong replies that Mai Ling is the only voice for the Long Zii, which angers Wu Jin, who is vocal about his disappointment in Li Yong. For his vocal disapproval of Mai Ling, Wu Jin and the other elders are assassinated in the late hours of the night by Long Zii hatchetmen.[3]
