The MiG-23MF is a Polish Air Superiority Fighter that appears in The Millionth Mile DLC of Wargame: Red Dragon.
History
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23MF (NATO Reporting Name: FLOGGER-B) is a single-engine, single-seat, supersonic interceptor produced for Soviet-allied nations. Based on the MiG-23M, the MF is nearly identical to its Soviet counterpart, albeit with slightly different Identify Friend/Foe (IFF) and communications equipment. The MiG-23MF is capable of carrying beyond-visual-range R-23 missiles, as well as close-range R-60s.
56 MiG-23MF entered Polish service between 1979–1982. These were used by 28 Pułk Lotnictwa Myśliwskiego.
Overview
The MiG-23MF is a relatively inexpensive Polish Air Superiority Fighter available to Polish and REDFOR decks. The MF has poor ECM (10%), an average turn radius, good time-over-target, excellent speed, and carries two long- and two short-range air to air missiles. Its armament is rounded out with an internal 23mm cannon. The MiG-23MF is a decent choice for an expedient interceptor; its missiles have fair accuracy and maneuverability, and the MF's speed ensures that the aircraft can get to the intercept point quickly.
The MiG-23MF does have several drawbacks. Its missile compliment is small compared to most fighters, making the MF useful for only a very short time before going Winchester. Combined with moderate missile performance, the MF will quickly be out-gunned by most of its mid-range Western counterparts. The poor ECM carried leaves the MiG-23MF vulnerable to long-range AAMs and SAMs. At 80 points per aircraft, however, the MiG-23MF is a good choice for a fighter that can be quickly fielded at low cost.
