Zhang He is a supporting antagonist in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the late Luo Guanzhong, and its multiple adaptations. He is a former servant of Yuan Shao and one of the famous generals of Cao Cao.
He was voiced by Yoshiyuki Kono (who also voiced Meng Huo in the same series) in the Japanese version, and by John DeMita, Yuri Lowenthal, and Ryan Lefton in the English version.
Biography
Alliance with Yuan Shao
At the end of the reign of Emperor Ling, Zhang He joined a paramilitary force under Han Fu, where he commanded the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Later on, he was joined Yuan Shao's forces, where he became a corps commander thanks to his success against warlord, Gongsun Zan. After the battle of Guandu against warlord Cao Cao, he and officer Gao Lan were forced to join Cao Cao after defecting from Yuan Shao.
Serving Cao Cao and the Battle of Changban
Under Cao Cao, Zhang He was named a general. During at striking of Changban, Zhang He agreed to following Cao Cao by his planning into launching an offensive to Liu Bei. He managed to seized Zhao Yun, Liu Bei's faithful commander who was going to saved Liu Shan from Cao Cao's calamity disasters.

Clash at Hanzhong
He helped unify the Central Plain, defend the Tong Gate against Ma Chao, and secure Hanzhong, whose governor he became. During the battle of Mount Dingjun, Zhang He joined up with his superior, Xiahou Yuan and his son, Xiahou Ba to against Shu strategist, Zhuge Liang. He sees through the terrific tactics of the minister, as Guo Huai, Xiahou Yuan's commander who would gives this way while he taking out of his bad habit by into protect him and Zhang He, after all that they turned against the Shu forces. Liu Bei coming into Yangping Gate, sent his armies entered the Wei camps, Zhang He and Xiahou Yuan later leading their forces to seizing the higher ground, which they working to made camp at Zouma Valley. Upon Huang Zhong arrived in the city of Hanzhong after he betrayed his former lord, Han Xuan, which was get attacked by Cao Cao's forces and is saved by Zhao Yun.
Where Zhao Yun managing to stops them from accepted the warring towards Liu Bei's forces, due to he would helped Fa Zheng using his strategy to makes an assaults, Huang Zhong preparing to takes his bow and arrows with killing his foes. He worked with him, Liu Bei, and Fa Zheng to fights Xiahou Yuan and his son, Zhang He help of guarding Baxi, when he is also faced with Zhang Fei, because of Xiahou Ba and Guo Huai, who are possibly keeps watching to Shu actions, and fights them. Huang Zhong then seemingly shoots off Xiahou Yuan, causing him died in this battle, by the fact thereupon Zhang He is becomes too horrible, much to his depression. Xiahou Ba took his grief, which have set mourning for his father's death, and will it is, Guo Huai crying so be poor.

However, Xiahou Ba swear to killed Huang Zhong, Zhang He stops him as he about Xiahou Yuan was failing out of the battle until his demise, all the motions will having losses. They would tied up to feud with Liu Bei's forces. Meantime, Cao Cao should arriving in Hanzhong, avenge on his cousin to defeated Shu along with his forces. Upon their sorrows, Zhang He and Xiahou Ba attended Xiahou Yuan's funeral, they agrees puts his body to be buried, under the report of Lady Xiahou, one of members of the Xiahou family and Zhang Fei's wife, but Cao Cao's side lost to Hanzhong.
The Northern Campaigns
In one years later, Cao Cao died of illness as his son, Cao Pi, joined his funeral together with Zhang He and his forces. When Cao Pi received the throne, he taking the power by destroyed Han Dynasty and eventually overthrow Emperor Xian. As the result, Cao Pi decided to founding the Wei kingdom as he become an primary emperor to rules all of the ways. Under Cao Cao's successor, Cao Pi, Zhang He was named the "Right General". At the Battle of Jieting, Zhang He was able to surrounded the Shu strategist Ma Su and beat him to death. After Zhuge Liang retreated after an attack, Zhang He pursued him to Mumen, where he ambushed and died.
Personality
Zhang He is depicted as a narcissist who takes joy in aesthetically appealing things and has melodramatic theatrical mannerisms. While he frequently decorates his sentences with the words "beautiful" and "graceful." For his newer appearances, it would shown he specifies the beauty he admires to be a force that unites the will of the land, people, and war. He is also prone to dramatically posing during cut-scenes, occasionally surrounded by a number of butterflies. Each war to him is a stage for him to demonstrate a beautiful dance. Then he has seen to be very comforting and that encouraging to his comrades when they are in low spirits and discouraged.

- His name may be inspired by Zheng He, the famous naval commander. However, Zheng He lived in the Ming Dynasty, which was around 1200 years after the Cao Wei.
