~ Ward cautioning Rambo. |
Ward is a supporting antagonist of the 1982 film First Blood. He is a Ligget County Sheriff Department deputy working for Will Teasle.
He was portrayed by Chris Mulkey, who voiced Shriek in Batman Beyond.
Biography
Following John Rambo's arrest for supposed vagrancy and resisting arrest, Ward was assigned alongside Art Galt to watch over Rambo. However, unlike the other deputies, Ward enjoys helping Galt torment Rambo, even attempting to shave him dry with a straight razor. Unfortunately, this made Rambo snap out and beat down the deputies (including Ward) before escaping into the forest.
Ward later aided Teasle, Balford, Shingleton, Orval Kellerman, and Mitch during a forest manhunt on Rambo following Galt's death. During the hunt, Ward engages into a fight against Mitch (who berates him for torturing Rambo in the first place), only for an angry Teasle to stop the quarreling and force them to move on.
However, each of Teasle's men end up being ambushed by Rambo. Ward ends up being pummeled by Rambo, who dislocates his right shoulder. Ward calls out for Balford to shoot Rambo, but ends up being shot in the same shoulder when Rambo moves out of the way, causing even more pain than ever. Eventually, Teasle was able to have Ward and the others sent to the hospital for their injuries.
It is unknown what happened to Ward afterwards.
