He was portrayed by Ronan Summers and his likeness modelled by Henry Mark.
History
Past
As the son of a wealthy Carja noble, Ranaman and his sister Daradi were raised in their family manor. Although not much is known about his early years, Ranaman went to a life of crime, starting with extortion and gambling before resorting to theft. In the end, his father rejected him due to the list of crimes he committed, and Ranaman vowed to exact revenge.
Later, in order to claim the estate as his own, Ranaman put a machine bait on it that would attract hostile machines. His goal was to murder his family and everyone else living there.
Fatal Inheritance
Ranaman feigns looking for assistance, where he attempted to get Carja troops in Meridian Village to clear the estate on his behalf. Aloy volunteered to take care of the machines, thus he was able to get assistance even if the troops declined to aid because of the growing threat of machine assaults.
Exposed
Aloy removed all of the devices from the estate, located and destroyed the lure, and got the information from Daradi, Ranaman's sister and the only other person who survived the attack. Soon after, Ranaman reappeared carrying a machine lure, boastfully assuring the two women that they would die thanks to the devices the new lure would bring. This proved to be his downfall in a hurry; a Glinthawk drawn to the lure grabbed hold of him and killed him.
Escaped
Aloy removed all the devices from the estate, but he didn't find any proof of Ranaman's crime or his sister's survival. Ranaman appeared to be upset and said he had to go back to the estate and bury his family when she came back and reported that she had not seen any survivors. Giving Aloy a Remarkable Reward Box as a reward, he said he didn't need it anymore since his inheritance was secured. Aloy will not see Daradi or the machine lure when he returns to the estate later, which suggests that Ranaman got rid of them both.
Trivia
- Ranaman is the only character in the franchise to have another status-dependent fate where he gets away from his crime and never gets killed by Aloy.
