Fernund is a minor antagonist in the 2017 video game Horizon Zero Dawn. He is an Oseram scrap dealer in the Carja settlement of Brightmarket, whose business practices, on the other hand, leave everything to be desired.
Having no qualms in using bribery, trickery, and even murder to get anything valuable from anyone to sell for shards, Fernund's plans would be later foiled by Aloy, where his attempt to sell her spear through the same means later failed, forcing him to run away after he was threatened by her.
Fernund is voiced by Mitchell Mullen.
Background
Exposing His Fraudulence
After hearing about Aloy's ability to override machines, Fernund would later come across to her in Brightmarket, where he would plan to sell her weapon.
In order to obtain the spear, however, Fernund would proceed to lure Aloy into a ruse, under the guise of a deal to retrieve a chest in Dusk Mesa that contained Old Ones' relics inside to bring it back in Meridian Village.
Aloy would soon later expose Fernund's fraudulent schemes, after she dispatched the mercenaries sent by him, who were attempting to take her spear by force. However, Aloy was surprised that the box was not empty, and it was indeed full of Old Ones' relics.
However, Fernund later escaped in fear after his mercenaries were killed by Aloy, forcing her to chase him to Meridian Village.
Stopping Fernund
After Aloy found Fernund in Meridian Village, she would later corner the con artist into a locked door, telling him to leave her forever, while adhering to her promise of not seeing her again. Fernund would then agree, before leaving.
