Overman is the name of at least two different alternate reality versions of Superman. The first is one that appeared in DC Comic's "Earth 10" universe, a variant on the Pre-Crisis "Earth X". Whereas Earth X merely showed a Nazi victory after World War II, in Earth 10 Overman is the Nazi agent of a long-dominant Third Reich and supports the Nazi Party's ideology of genetic purity. Hes also the cousin/genetic template of Overgirl.

History

Earth-10/X

Originally from the destroyed planet of Krypton, Kal's pod crash-landed on Earth, just like his main counterpart. However, instead of Smallville, baby Kal landed in Czechoslovakia during WWII and was found by Hitler himself. He was raised in this world, indoctrinated with Nazism beliefs and eventually becoming the "hero" known as Overman. By reverse engineering his spaceship, the Nazis were able to extend the war, until Overman became able to won it for them.

Overman eventually married a woman named Lena and joined the New Reicshmen /Justice League Axis along with other nazi villains (analogues to the Justice League). At some point, he lost his "cousin"/clone Overgirl during a battle, and began facing the Freedom Fighters and their leader Uncle Sam. At some point, Overman left Earth in order to work through some stuff, being replaced by Heinrich Henshaw aka Cyborg Overman.

Two conflicting artistic renditions of Overman have been shown in the comics. One is a stereotypical blonde Aryan with a Nazi swastika replacing the S-shield, while the other is a black-haired twin of the standard Superman with an "S" resembling one from the Schutzstaffel emblem.

Earth-17

A completely different rendition showed up in the pages of Animal Man, and may have been generated by the madness of Psycho-Pirate, who at that time was the only mortal to remember the multiverse that existed prior to the Crisis On Infinite Earths, knowledge which made him more unstable than normal. This Overman, whatever his true existence, is said to come from a world where all heroes were the creations of US Government experiments, Overman being the first, and all other heroes created from his DNA in further experiments. It is by description a grim world made grimmer by his presence, and mostly destroyed by him.

In the midst of Psycho-Pirate's rambling narrative, Overman emerges, armed with the super-bomb he used to destroy his own world. His insanity was so apparent and repulsive, the pre-Crisis version of Ultraman feared him and decided to fight against him. Normally, Ultraman, another dark version of Superman, was brutal and somewhat murderous himself, but Psycho-Pirate had recreated him after his death in Crisis, wherein he chose to die trying to save the world he once tormented.

Whether through his actual powers, or through Psycho-Pirate's narration of him as unstoppable, the assembled AU heroes and villains could not stand against him as he babbled and threatened to set off the bomb. Animal Man, who had been sent on a torturous journey through time and space, came to the temporary realization of his status as a comic book character, and trapped Overman between two comic book panels, which he constricted until Overman was destroyed, whining that it wasn't his fault he was a monster, since he had been created that way. Animal Man then simply hit the off switch on the bomb Overman had tried to use.

Cyborg Overman

Afraid of marginalized people turning against the regime after Overman left Earth, the Führer ordered the creation of a substitute. The man chosen to be their new greatest weapon was Heinrich Henshaw, a fanatical man so dangerous that even the Reich thought he was too unstable to run free. So after constant brainwashing, conditioning and cybernetic enhancement, the Reich released Henshaw (now known as Cyborg Overman) to defeat Uncle Sam and his Freedom Fighters, which were threatened their control of the world.

Overman from Earth-17 makes non-speaking cameos in the Adult Swin/HBO Max animated series My Adventures with Superman.

Justice League Infinity

Overman appears in the DCAU comics Justice League Infinity. This version is similar to Superman's evil counterpart from the Brave New World reality.

A survivor of a doomed planet, Kal-El landed in the heart of a nightmare, being raised and exploited by a fascist dictator named Vandal Savage to be the monstrous embodiment of an imagined master race. But even monsters may know love. Overman gave his heart, willingly, passionately, to a version of Lois Lane from his world. However, she loved the cause of freedom more. She used her position to help the Freedom Fighters, and when her betrayal was discovered, Overman himself wrapped the noose around her neck. Still he wept. And mourned. But a vulnerable monster was a threat to the Reich, so Savage's scientists buried Overman's love and grief so deep in the shadowed corners of his psyche, that he forgot they were ever there. During the multiversal crisis caused by Amazo, Overman was teleported from his homeland to the Earth of the Justice League, where he was eventually defeated by the heroes.
