Mut Thebes is a major antagonist in A Certain Magical Index: Genesis Testament, serving as one of the main antagonists of the New Year's Arc.
She is a Transcendent of the Bridge Builders Cabal who specializes in punishment and execution, and has been called an expert in executing other Transcendents.
Appearance
Mut Thebes is a swarthy-skinned young girl with a skinny build and looks to be around the age of 15. She has long curly blonde hair and blue eyes. Her clothing barely covers her skin, as her attire mainly consists of thin multicolored belts and pure golden ornaments. Its revealed that this is actually part of her magic.
Personality
Mut Thebes is a stoic yet dutiful individual who represents a ruler who is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her "territory" (which is currently the Bridge Builders Cabal), and her salvation condition is to do just that. While very little is known about her exact personality, she has shown to possesses some sort of hostility towards Trismegistus and displays some tsundere traits. However, she is extremely relentless and unmerciful when it comes to fulfilling her task of Executioner of the Cabal and has no qualms with killing other Transcendents who are deemed as a threat to the Cabal.
Biography
Mut Thebes's full background prior to and after joining the Bridge Builders Cabal is largely unknown, however, what is known is that she managed to outclass all of the other candidates to earn the position she wanted.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Transcendent Magic: As a Transcendent of the Bridge Builders Cabal, Mut Thebes is an immensely powerful magician who is capable of rivaling the entire normal magic side by herself. She apparently specializes in punishment and execution and the only Transcendent (other than Alice Anotherbible) capable of killing other Transcendents with Shrink Drink, an item created to kill Transcendents in a single blow.
- Risk 4: Like her fellow Transcendents, Mut Thebes can draw on great power that transcends that of normal humans by releasing her dual seal with an incantation involving the declaration of "Risk 4" and "departing human territory". Her own power takes the form of the Dead Phoenix. When activating it, she invokes several different dualities (e.g. life and death, pure and impure, quiet and loud, good and evil, right and wrong). Once transcended, Mut displays greater versatility with her absorbed shadows, enabling her to change the size of manifested objects (e.g. shrinking a warship propeller over 10m across to a diameter of 3m) and apparently granting her more flexibility in utilizing an absorbed object's components and functions, allowing her to use them in unusual ways.
- Dead Phoenix: Mut Thebes' primary magic is capable of acquiring weaponry by absorbing the shadows of those objects that come into contact with the shadow cast by the skin of her body, which she can then deploy from her body and wield as her own. Although Mut Thebes specializes in using to it to acquire weapons and means of attack, her contact absorption magic is also effective as a shield to protect her from physical and chemical attacks. She can also absorb other peoples' shadows in order to replicate their abilities. Moreover, she also seems to be able to sense whenever one of her weapons takes a life.
- Flight/Levitation: Mut Thebes has apparently shown to of levitating or flying. The methods of how are unclear, but its implied to have something to do with her shadow magic.
