Plana (プラナ Purana?) is a human from Indignia.
Appearance
Plana is a slender woman of average height with chin-length hair that curls gently inward at the tips. She has a strong nose, downturned eyes, thin eyebrows and visible lips. She is dressed in a long-sleeved, high-collared robe reminiscent of religious sacrament attire. A distinct emblem, resembling two overlapping "H" letters, is prominently displayed on the chest.
Personality
Plana is a deeply religious, cautious, and kind-hearted individual. Her compassion is evident, particularly when she expressed concern for others' well-being during their flight from the Lawless. Like many of her people, she harbors a profound fear of God and is deeply concerned about the possibility of divine punishment. She is also quite particular about her food, avoiding unprepared or unfamiliar dishes, and is not above making excuses to avoid them.
Plot
Introduction Arc
Plana participates in a meeting with representatives from other worlds.[1] When her fellow Indignia representative, Naurai, begins to panic about offending God, Plana is visibly affected as well. However, both are soon calmed by the use of Mind-Calming Magic.[2]
Demons vs Aliens Arc
After the demons begin their attack on Humanity's Fortress, Plana tells Naurai that they cannot pray.[3] Later, she prevents him from praying when the situation appears to worsen.[4]
Demon Lord Arc
When the Lawless attack, the refugees are instructed to flee. Among them, Plana notices that many people are unable to walk on their own and cannot escape this way. When Naurai suggests hiding in one of the war-torn buildings, it suddenly collapses before their eyes. Shortly after, Plana sees Sabiwa approaching another crumbling building and shouts that it is too dangerous to go near the ruins. However, Sabiwa plants a Root of the World on the building, causing it to stretch throughout the structure, reinforcing it and preventing further collapse. This completely surprises Plana.[5]
Current Arc
Four days later, after Wané gathers various insects, mushrooms, and plants for the others to eat, Plana is among those who refuse to eat. Mika asks wasn't she hungry and offers to let her eat first. Plana declines, coming up with an excuse that her people are not allowed such extravagances for religious reasons. However, after Takuya properly prepares and cooks the ingredients, she ends up enjoying the food.[6]
Trivia
- Her name プラナ (Purana) could be derived from the Sanskrit word "prāṇa" (プラーナ, Purāna), meaning "life force" or "vital principle". In Eastern philosophies, it represents the essential energy that sustains life and is often linked to breath and spiritual practices like yoga.
