Dolfiego

Dolfiego (ドルフィーゴ, Dorufīgo) was a monster that appeared in episode 9 of The☆Ultraman.

History

The☆Ultraman

For six thousand years the monster Dolfiego lived under Tamara Island and had an ancient civilization under his control. However, in the modern day an oil refinery was set up on his island, forcing Dolfeigo to use three archaeologists from Professor Inazuma's team to destroy it while under hypnosis as well as scare off the rest of their team. Mutsumi quickly informed her teammates and within the hour the Science Guard Party arrived with Choichiro sneaking under the coast for an entrance by following one of the hypnotized archaeologists. After Choichiro was told by the three of them to leave, dynamite was set by the wall in front of Dolfiego's chamber by Professor Inazuma which caused the monster to awaken violently. After Dolfiego destroyed his temple, Choichiro transformed into Ultraman Joneus. The two giants clashed and caused massive amounts of destruction to Dolfiego's former civilization's structures. Once Joneus knocked out Dolfiego with the Planium Beam, Tamara Island began to sink, ending the legacy of the monster much to Professor Inazuma's despair.

Trivia

• The monster Axor from the seventeenth episode of Hanna-Barbera's Godzilla shares an unusual number of coincidental similarities with Dolfiego, both characters being intelligent and ancient bipedal reptilian creatures with eye-based mind controlling powers who enslave humans to build and maintain their underground temple-like homes on isolated islands. Both Dolfiego's and Axor's lone episodes premiered in 1979, just a little over four months from each other (May 30th 1979 and October 6th 1979, respectively).

Powers and Weapons

• Adept Swimmer: Dolfiego can swim at low speeds while underwater.
• Hypnotic Eye Rings: Dolfiego can emit rings of hypnotic energy from his eyes that can also become explosive in combat. Anyone under this hypnosis can emit highly flammable versions of these rings from their eyes as well.
• Extraordinary Jumper: Dolfiego can jump very high into the air.
