Bedran

Bedran^[1] (ベドラン, Bedoran) was a Kaiju that appeared in episode 19 of The☆Ultraman.

Subtitle: Reptile Monster (は虫怪獣, Ha Chū Kaijū)

History

The☆Ultraman

After the death of Janyur, the energy orb mutated another reptile that would become the stegosaurus-like monster Bedran. The Science Guard Party attacked Bedran to little avail as it continued its wanton rampage. Ultraman Joneus, still weakened from his previous battles from earlier, courageously attacked the giant reptile. However, Bedran proved to be more than the weakened Joneus could handle and before a finishing move could be used, the hero ran out of energy and appeared to have disintegrated. Bedran continued its assault as the Science Guard Party tragically discovered Choichiro as he died on the spot.

Trivia

• Bedran later appeared in a live show, albeit frilled and with a slightly more humanoid design.
• Bedran is one of the only monsters to seemingly kill an Ultra; however, he is the only one to cause the demise of an Ultra host.
  • Bedran is also the only monster whose plot was never resolved, as he was seemingly forgotten about after Joneus and Choichiro's deaths.

Ultraman: Great Monster Decisive Battle

While Ultraman Joneus was dispatched to Earth, he fought Bedran and used the Planium Beam (A Type) to defeat the beast.

Trivia

• His roar in Ultraman: Great Monster Decisive Battle is reused from Zaragas.
• Bedran's suit in Ultraman: Great Monster Decisive Battle is reused from Ragu's suit from Dinosaur Squadron Koseidon.

Ultraman Z

Although not physically appearing, Bedran is one of the hibernating monsters awakened when Genegarg crashed onto Earth. It was located in Africa. ^{A Warrior's Principle}

Trivia

• As this incarnation of Bedran was "hibernating", it can be presumed that it's a natural Kaiju instead of a mutation like his original counterpart.
