- ― Percy
Overnight Stop is the twentieth episode of the first series.
Plot
Thomas, Percy and Nia are sleeping soundly when the morning whistle blows and the day begins. As Thomas and Nia set off, Percy runs through his morning routine before joining his friends. Meeting at Knapford, the three are given their jobs by Gordon; they have to take a load of nine tankers to Wayland, a station on the Mainland, with each engine taking three cars. Percy is initially concerned about making the delivery before dark, but Gordon reveals that the delivery would take 2 days and require the three to sleep in the woods overnight. Although Thomas and Nia are excited about sleeping outdoors, the news sends Percy into a state of panic, though he manages to sheepishly hide it from his friends before they set off.
As Thomas and Nia come up with a travel game, they notice Percy struggling behind them, and it doesn't take long for them to see that he has an extra wagon with items from his berth at Tidmouth. Percy tells them that he wants to be prepared, and as the three set off he hits a bump, unknowingly uncoupling the car with his personal belongings in the process, leaving it behind. The three manage to make it to the Vicarstown Bridge with several travel games on the way, but just after they cross Percy is horrified to find that his personal belongings are not at the end of his train. As the other two return to his side, Percy is disappointed to learn that they don't have time to return for his supplies, and is further disappointed when Thomas and Nia proceed to continue their campout plans.
The three arrive at the campsite as the night begins to sweep the sky, and as Thomas and Nia set up, they give Percy a description about the wonders of camping. However, this proves too much for Percy, and further frightened by the nighttime noise reveals to his friends that he is scared of sleeping away from home. Thomas and Nia are quick to comfort him, and it doesn't take long before all three start to enjoy themselves. However, when it comes time to sleep Percy's fears start to act up again, and he subsequently fails to fall asleep before waking up his friends. Despite their best efforts, Thomas and Nia fail to make Percy more familiar with the sounds of the night, but they soon come up with another plan; the two friends set up a makeshift version of Percy's berth at Tidmouth Sheds and all his belongings so that he could feel more at home. This plan ends up working, and Percy manages to sleep successfully through the night. The next morning, Percy wakes up very happy and it doesn't take long for the three to deliver their tankers. Afterwards they happily race for home before dark.

Trivia
- According to Rick Suvalle, the name "Wayland" was chosen for the station in this episode because it is the name of his hometown and sounded like a far away location.
- On the RTÉ Player, the episode image was of the episode Gordon Gets the Giggles, and the '2510a' was beside the episode title. This was also the case with every episode from Counting Cows onwards
