Hay, Now!

Hay, Now! is the seventeenth short of the Short Story Adventures series.

Plot

Kana races through the countryside and finds Thomas struggling to couple up to a flatbed of haybales. As it turns out, his coupling is broken, and he can't deliver the hay to the farm. As she was heading there anyway, Kana offers to deliver the flatbed for him, though despite Thomas's warnings she races off, blowing some hay onto his face. Kana continues to race for the farm, but constantly unaware of her predicament, she passes under a signal gantry, a tunnel, and piece of track being lifted by Carly, piling hay on other engines as a result. As a result, the flatbed is missing every bale of hay she was supposed to deliver. Fortunately, the engines who have been hit by the hay arrive at the farm, and the cows are able to feed on schedule. Thanking the others, Kana prepares to deliver another flatbed, this one with sleepers. This time, however, she makes sure to watch her load and surroundings.

• The intro is reused from James and the Dragon.
• Nia is the only main cast member to not appear in this episode.
• Uniquely, most of the dialogue in this short is structured in rhyme. This is a stark contrast to past productions, which typically use a more sophisticated dialogue structure.
