Io (イオ) is one of the Demon Generals, working as an instructor and field commander for the Demon Army.
Design
Appearance
Io is an imposing giant with light-blue skin and four arms. Io has a chiseled face with a stern expression. His eyes are intense and almond-shaped, with red-brown pupils. His nose is wide and his mouth is straight and firm, further accentuating his serious appearance. Io is bald and has no visible hair on his scalp. Io has a broad, muscular build, with broad shoulders and an imposing stature. His body is well-shaped, emphasizing his strength. He wears a tunic and sleeveless armor in dark blue and black. Two straps cross his chest, resembling a harness or part of his equipment. Io wears brown and green fabric. The lower body features metallic-gray armored leggings for protection. He wears magic gauntlets on each of his four arms, the gloves matching the metallic theme of the armor. Sturdy, armored boots complete the outfit.
Personality
He has a military type personality. Honorable towards his opponent and respecting those who fight with everything they have. He doesn't really like scheming tactics
Etymology
Biography
Early in Io's career as a general, he faced a deadly confrontation with the Black Spider of Calamity and was severely outmatched by the spider's overwhelming strength. In the heat of battle, one of Io's comrades sacrificed themselves, and Io took his fallen ally’s arms as a memento, incorporating them into his body.
Present
One of Io's most significant roles was defending Fort Stella from the advancing Hyuman armies. Under his leadership, the demons successfully held off wave after wave of Hyuman assaults, even when reinforced by Hibiki, the hero chosen by the Goddess. Io used a set of magical rings that nullified the Goddess' blessing, the Hyumans' greatest advantage. With the blessing neutralized, Hibiki's group found themselves at a disadvantage, and Io was able to overpower them. Navarre, one of Hibiki's companions, heroically sacrificed herself in an attempt to buy time for the others, but Io survived her suicidal rampart.
During the invasion of Limia' capital, Io had a second encounter with Hibiki. This time, both sides were more prepared, and Hibiki had grown stronger from her previous defeat. However, as Io was about to defeat Hibiki, it was unexpectedly interrupted by Makoto, who was disguised at the time. Io soon finds himself outmatched by Makoto, even when Io uses the Rose Sign to strengthen himself, Makoto is able to dispel it. When Sofia Bulga joins the battle, Io attempts to intervene, but Makoto knocks him off the battlefield.
Powers & Abilities
Io is one of the most formidable warriors serving under the Demon Lord, particularly due to his sheer physical strength and incredible durability. Despite Hibiki and her team's combined efforts, Io is able to overpower them almost single-handedly.
Io possesses a powerful regenerative ability, allowing him to recover from injuries that would incapacitate or kill most beings. Another key ability Io has is his ability to harden his skin, significantly boosting his defense.
Equipment
- Demon Ring: A magic ring that seals the powers of the Goddess' blessings.
- Elemental Gauntlets: Four gauntlets each imbued with magic from one of the basic elements, Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. They allow Io to add said elements to his attacks.
- Rose Sign: A version modified by Rona of the one Navarre used against him.
