A BB Pill Bug (ビービーダンゴムシ Bībī Dango Mushi) is a cowardly creature which hides within the ground of 100G Mountain in order to avoid being eaten. Its incredible cowardice is considered quite odd by Gourmet World standards; however, this creature posses the unique ability to adapt to sudden changes at a moment's notice, making it a very special species.
Despite being a bug, it is the Salad Dish for Zebra's Full Course Menu.[1]
Anatomy
The BB Pill Bug appears as a small larva-like bug that rolls into a ball when it senses danger. The outer area of the BB Pill Bug consists of a dark, round, smooth shell which can resist high impacts when falling. BB Pill Bugs can also grow to be giant in size, with the largest specimen being three times larger than an 8ft tall human.
Behavior
Due to their natures as cowardly creatures, it is thought that they are unnatural to be in Gourmet World. However despite their nature as being cowardly, the BB Pill Bug is able to adapt to its surrounding in a moment's haste by changing its properties.
Powers and Abilities
BB Pill Bugs have the ability to instantly alter their body weight from being as light as a feather to as heavy as a boulder. This ability makes them quite difficult to handle for the unprepared for if one tries to catch one in midair, the bug could instantaneously make itself heavy enough to fall at a blinding speed that could crush the hand of a potential catcher. They can also excrete a special poison to fend off predators.
Uses
BB Pill Bugs are known to be used as training tools for the martial arts discipline known as Enbu. Due to their instant changes in properties (such as their weight change), the insect is used as a means to train one's control over all of the cellular structure. By being able to instantly react to the creature's different properties, one can master the basics of Enbu by being able to juggle the creatures without difficulty.
As Food
The flavor of a BB Pill Bug's meat becomes more delicious the more it is juggled in succession. Once it is ready to eat, it can be cooked over an open fire. Zebra even considers adding it to his Full Course Menu. He eventually adds it for his salad course, due to it having a texture similar to cabbage once juggled around 10,000 times.[1]
History
PAIR Arc
BB Pill Bugs are first introduced to the Four Heavenly Kings by "Kaka" in order for them to use the bugs in their Enbu training.[2] For the next few days they slowly master juggling these bugs and even manage to successfully cook a few before facing off against Bambina.[3]
ANOTHER Arc
Zebra reveals that he added the BB Pill Bug to his Full Course Menu as the Salad.[1]
