Lifeline arrives in the training center. He's actually here quite a bit, but in the overnight hours so he's rarely seen here in the daytime.
Battleaxe is her ebecause, even the secretary has to run obstacle courses for ratings and the ubiquitous paperwork requirements. She's kitted out as if she would be in the field and has her customary look of mild interest combined with thinking about a great many other things all at once.
It's PT time with the Joes, and its the first time Limelight, aka Kelly Sharp, has been put into one of these competitions. "Crap. This looks exhausting. And I have three hours of dossiers I'm supposed to have memorized by tomorrow." She eyes the mud and the distance. "I am going to sweat through this jacket..." With a flourish, she actually rips the clothes from her frame, putting her in a more basic light fatigues, with a tee shirt. Clearly the magician just wanted to show off her quick change skills...
Temera walks in to the sight of that, blinking and whistling just a little bit, grinning. "Very nice. I'd try it but I'd probably ruin the top set of clothes doing it." She laughs softly. "Rather spectacular to see done live in front of me, properly."
The door slides open to the training room, and a redhead walks in. Shana is carrying a sheathed Katana, and she is moving towards the area where others normally practice with bladed weapons. She glances around as she heads to the area, and sees a what looks like someone preparing to run the obstacle course. She doesn't recognize Limelight, but that might be easily handled. She stops by Lifeline, "Who's the new girl?"
"I want to learn that trick," Lifeline says as Limelight does the surprising quick change. "...On second thought, no I don't. I'd probably mess it up." He peers at Battleaxe, then eyes the obstacle course. "We going to run this thing today?" As Scarlett enters, the doctor greets her with a wave. "You haven't met Kelly yet? This is Kelly Sharp, code name Limelight. She just got here not too long ago."
The next part of the obstacle course includes...the planning station. GI JOE demands its members keep their mind sharp even during peak physical performance. Evaluate the Cobra threats on your personal podium, and move figurines quickly to meet the enemy! Characters with training in SQUAD TACTICS or such, can consider this one easy! Otherwise, rely on your LEADERSHIP to delegate tasks!
GAME: Lifeline PASSES a LEADERSHIP roll of High difficulty.
Temera peers at the little podium and scratches her hair slightly, trying to see if she can figure anything out of it by looking.
GAME: Temera PASSES a LEADERSHIP roll of High difficulty.
The obstacle course starts with...a military sim puzzle? Kelly frowns at the board, "Okay I have no idea how to..." She moves a few pieces, trying to think tactically, and after a few failed examples moves forward to the next station, having lost some tme.
Lifeline is all business once they start the course. He seems to figure out the first challenge pretty quickly, but it's from years of dealing with training with the likes of Beach Head that make him think fast on his feet.
Shana just leans against the wall, and watches. She is privately hoping the team Doctor's beats these youngsters, but is resigned to the fact that one of the youngsters is likely to win.
Battleaxe blinks, watching the setup and shakes her head, "I thought this was the field run day." Softly spoken, she steps up, giving Scarlett a nod of her head, politely, then Lifeline and then Limelight. A frown crosses her face as she stares. A shake of her head and she gives it a go, slowly pushing through.. "I really should bone up on infantry again..."
GAME: Battleaxe FAILS a LEADERSHIP roll of High difficulty.
AFTER THE FIRST OBSTACLE, Temera and Lifeline are in the lead.
The next part of the obstacle course includes...the hand-over-hand climb. As dreaded as they come, especially after a good mud pit, the suspended rope climb is as vital as it is exhausting. Expert climbers like Alpine can just take the win with a CLIMBING SKILL, otherwise its pure ENDURANCE
GAME: Limelight PASSES an ENDURANCE roll of Very High difficulty.

Limelight 's eyes gleam a bit when it comes to something she's better at. "Alright this is more my speed. I've done my share of stunt work." She sets herself at the rope and starts to climb it well enough, though she's already a bit behind the veterans...which seems proper if she can set her ego aside.

Lifeline approaches the climbing wall with a good amount of confidence. After all, he was just out in the mountains with Meggan not too long ago. But his grip begins to falter about 3/4 of the way up, and he falls right off the rope to the ground. Not his best moment, to be sure. He never gives up, though, and once he hits the ground, he's back to climbing again. This time he avoids the same mistake he made the first time around, nimbly heading up the rope.
Temera hurries to the climbing wall as well, grabbing with her nails and hands and yanking herself up as quickly as she can, trying to make very certain she gets a good hold on it with every grab she makes, going up the rope until the top.
Battleaxe stares up at the rope like millions of middle school kids horror is being channeled through her right this very moment. There's a deep breath taken and she starts up it before sliding back down. Wash, rinse, repeat. She falls off of it several times, before barely, just barely, making it up and over. But not without several choice phrases in a scattering of languages not fit to print. It's not pretty, it certainly isn't entirely up to qualifications.
AFTER THE SECOND OBSTACLE Temera is in the lead, followed by Limelight, than Lifeline, and Battleaxe is in last place.
The next part of the obstacle course includes...the high poles. Did this suddenly become ninja training? High poles dot the area, going upward. Hop from pole to pole or fall to the pit in a make or break moment!
Several Greenshirts in the background are watching, and making wagers on just who is going to win this. They start to cheer on their chosen champions, most of them chose the new girl, because they have seen everyone else in action, and want someone new to win. It gives them hope of one day, beginning good enough to get a codename.
Meanwhile, Scarlett shakes her head slightly as Temera continues to lead, while Lifeline falls back even with Limelight, and poor Battleaxe languishes in the rear. This might be interesting.

"Oh.. for the love of.." exclaims Battleaxe as she rounds the corner to the next series of obstacles, "I am -not-!! Ninja shaped..." She sucks it up.. and makes an attempt. One.. two.. -crash-.. she's on her back wheezing between the poles, staring upwards and tapping out of this one, slowly rolling to her knees and unwedging her field axe from where the handle hadd japed her in the back side.
Limelight 's ever present smile continues as she reaches the top of the platform and pulls herself up. She steals a moment on the platform to whisk her hair back. "Now this is just silly..." The thrill of competition is in the air though, "But lets go!" The charlatan is about as nimble as they come, though Temera's still leading her easily..
Temera pulls herself up the high poles and tries to jump to another poll and grab on, and keep doing it as far as she can, trying not to look down or to the sides, only ahead to the next pole she's trying to jump at. "I'm not either, surprised this is in the course." She gets through it though, pulling herself up at the end and stretching. "Okay, what's next?"
Lifeline tries, he really does. Not all of his moves are bad ones. He has a knack for being light enough to balance on the poles pretty well. But something must be distracting him tonight, because he misses the last pole jump. Whoops.
AFTER THE THIRD OBSTACLE, Temera continues to lead, Limelight right behind her. Battleaxe and Lifeline are falling behind.
The next part of the obstacle course includes...a series of ropes hanging over water. Channel your inner Donkey Kong, and brachiate between the ropes...or take a dive if you don't mind losing ground.
GAME: Limelight FAILS a DEXTERITY roll of Very High difficulty.
GAME: Lifeline PASSES a DEXTERITY roll of Very High difficulty.
Limelight clears the poles, and starts to try to gain some ground on Temera. She reaches for the swinging rope, grasps hold and swings forward. Just as she reaches for the next rope, her other hand slips, and with dismay in her eyes, she lands butt first in the water, causing a splash. She wipes water from her face comically as her grin fades for once.
Battleaxe trails behind those that haven't taken a dive into the ground and finds.. the ropes.. and water. despite wearing her field kit, the woman breaths a sigh of relief. She slides into the water and swims easily across, despite added equipment weight and.. well, getting waterlogged.
Whatever was distracting Lifeline earlier in the course, he's put to the back of his mind when he reaches the ropes. This one he gets through easily, navigating the ropes with excellent timing from one to the next.
AFTER THE FOURTH OBSTACLE, Temera continues to lead, Limelight has fallen back even with Lifeline, and Battleaxe continues to trail the others.
Shana smiles to herself, "New girl is not bad at all.... Oh. Spoke too soon." She watches as Limelight falls from the ropes, and into the water. Battleaxe just dives into the water, and continues on, same as she has been. Shana makes a mental note to maybe work with Battleaxe on her own, to help the woman gain more.... physicality. As Edwin sails through the ropes she nods to herself. She taught him that, at least, that is how she remembers it.

Temera winces as she sees the tactics and planning station again, frowning at it and seeing if she can guess which trooper to put against which other trooper, raising her eyebrows. She scratches her head as she does it again, frowning just a bit.

Limelight pulls herself out of the water in a manner most reminiscent of a cat that's been freshly bathed. Hair mops over her head for a moment as she gets to her feet, and sees another chess board station. There's a hesitant moment where she considered eye rolling...but this is where she wanted to be. This time, she embraces it a bit further, and studies the board, then moves some pieces to what her six weeks of bootcamp tell her to do...
GAME: Battleaxe PASSES a LEADERSHIP roll of Very High difficulty.
Lifeline reaches the planning station...again...and he realizes why he hates this course, Beach Head must have put some of this together. He's almost out of the gate on this one, but he runs out of time. Spent too much time thinking about how annoying it was!
Battleaxe steps up, soaking wet, to the podium and wipes water out of her eyes. She's frowning, but determined looking to once more shift the figurines into something less of a catastrophic failure. A tilt of her head, blinking before she smiles, tick, shift, tick tick, shift -BEEEP- A smile as she succeeds!
AFTER THE FIFTH OBSTACLE, Temera maintains her lead, Limelight moves up to right behind her, Lifeline is in third, and Battleaxe, while moving up, is still in last.
The next part of the obstacle course includes...the mud pit. High stepping only gets you so far, slog on through as best you can!
GAME: Limelight FAILS a STRENGTH roll of Above Average difficulty.
GAME: Lifeline PASSES a STRENGTH roll of Above Average difficulty.
GAME: Battleaxe FAILS a STRENGTH roll of Above Average difficulty.

Agility is Kelly's trademark. She starts into the mud, high stepping as best she can, throwing her legs forward like you can do in high water to help keep up speed, but eventually she gets caught in the mire and starts to slog through it, coating her with the thick mud up to her thighs.
Battleaxe crinkles her nose and starts.. the slow.. trudge through the mud. Already being wet, the thick ooze just pulls at her more and more until she flounders several times, ending up covered from head to toe, coming out dead last.
Lifeline is relieved to come across the mud pit. This, he can handle. He looks a bit like a golem when he comes out the other side, but he makes it through.
Temera rushes the mud pit with a bit too much fervor unfortunately on her part, and for all of her high stepping and attempting to swim it out slightly, she slips on the bottom and falls in while she tries to get through, landing with a loud *splot* and a bit of mud flying up around her. She gets back up in short order though, and keeps trying to push through it.
AFTER THE SIXTH OBSTACLE, Tmera continues to lead, but Limelight and Lifeline are right behind her. Battleaxe is still in last.
Oh, Mudpit. Too bad for those that fell in the water last time, that the mud pit came after the Water. Now they might be wishing for another water obstacle. Shana smiles as Lifeline pulls even with Limelight, and even gains on the Leader, Temera. The Greenshirts are frowning, as their champion goes from in second place, to now only tied for second. Shana calls out, "Push through it, Joes!"
The next part of the obstacle course includes...targets that wave from side to side. Grab a gun and clear the targets before you move on!
GAME: Lifeline PASSES a DEXTERITY roll of Above Average difficulty.
Temera pulls herself out of the mud and picks up the weapon, moving her hand to wipe mud out from her eyes again before she sights the weapon.

Limelight grumbles a little as she pulls out of the mud, but shakes it off. She marches up to the next area. Guns are not her friend, but she qualified. With a fluid motion, Kelly loads, chambers and clears four targets in quick succession, before she clears the magazine, and the chamber, then moves towards the finish line.
Lifeline probably surprises a few of the greenies out in the audience with the next challenge...he grabs one of the guns, and bang-bang-bang, shoots out the targets in quick succession. Despite rumors that he doesn't even know how to use a gun, he in fact has trained exactly the same way with the exact same weapons as every other Joe.
Today's part of Beachhead, is today played by Scarlett. She yells out, "If you can't shoot straight, why are you Joes? Even the Doctor shoots better than some of you!" She than waits for the finish...
Battleaxe stares at the range, her hands, the range again. She takes a deep breath, wipes mud out of her eyes and starts the whole process. Second shot she reaches up to wipe her eyes again, gets mud in them and misses 3 of 4 targets. There's a quiet huff as she clears the mag, sets the weapon down and moves on.
AFTER THE SEVENTH OBSTACLE, Limelight has pulled even with Temera, with Lifeline hot on their tail. Battleaxe is far behind.
In close timing both Temera and Kelly clear the track.
Limelight puts her arms up in a celebratory gesture as she crosses the finish line. It'll be up to the greenies to decide who actually crossed it first. She stumbles with the mud on her still and ends up seated and breathing hard. Soaked and mudded, she wipes her eyes, "Phew...."
"Great going, everyone!" Lifeline is all smiles at the end. "Anyone want a hug?" he quips, knowing full well he's a mud monster now.
The Greenshirts run towards Limelight, and lift her onto their shoulders. "New Obstacle course champion!" They know who they think won it all.
Temera doesn't 'celebrate' for crossing the finish line, She just stretches out and looks at all the mud still on her, laughing softly. "I do believe that i'll feel much better after a shower." She glances over at the Greenshirts, shrugging as they all celebrate Limelight and laughing softly. "I'm sure you totally want hugs with someone who totally fell into the mudpit." She grins at Lifeline.
Shana just waits for everyone to finish, "So, who is up for some Hand to Hand combat training after that invigorating, light workout of an Obstacle Course?"
She's named Limelight for a reason, to Kelly, the spotlight is an essential part of what she thrives in, "Easy, easy. lets not get me carried away here." When someone offers her something to sign, there's a bit of a surprised "Oh!.." but she's done signatures in her previous career, its all a part of the job.
Battleaxe shakes her head, smiling at others enthusiasm. A thumbs up given to those that completed the run sucessfully before she turns and trudges off. Paperwork waits for no one.
Lifeline takes a little cleaning cloth out of one of his suit pockets, and begins cleaning his glasses off so he can at least see where he's going. "Oh, that's how you're going to be?" he asks Shana with a grin. "Fine. But if I manage to win, you're getting a mud hug." He replaces his glasses on his face, and glances over at Battleaxe. "Thanks for joining us, Blanca!" he calls to her, then looks at Temera. "No, I want to hug someone who didn't get mud on them. That's more fun."
Temera laughs a little bit at that and nods. "That's what I thought." She winks then, and looks over to Scarlett. "And yeah, if you really want to do hand to hand practice /now/, well, mud awaits you either way." She smiles brightly.
Shana makes a slight motion over to the Hand to Hand area. "I'll even allow both of you to come at me at once. I could use a little work on keeping multiple targets at Bay." She glances over at Limelight, and shakes her head slightly, "Might just need to teach her some humlity one day.... Joe's don't sign autographs." Her voice is light, indicating she is mostly joking.
[G.I. Joe] Concealer says, "Good evening all. Hope everyone is enjoying the Wednesday peace."
Lifeline's phone rings. "Eh...I'm needed upstairs..." He sighs, and grins at his horrifyingly muddy state. "So much for a sterile infirmary."
[G.I. Joe] Scarlett says, "Some more than others.... Don't ask Temera, Lifeline, or Battleaxe about mud, however."
[G.I. Joe] Concealer says, "Dare I ask? Is this the famous Mud Wrestling Championship night? Go get 'em, Lifeline! I know you can keep your title!"
Shana watches Lifeline run off, and sighs softly, "Well, I'll let you shower, Temera, if you'd like."
[G.I. Joe] Lifeline says, "Psh. Oh, hey! Want a hug?"
[G.I. Joe] Temera says, "Ask me about mud and I'll wring it out of my shirt above your head, thanks."
[G.I. Joe] Temera says, "I'm sure that will show you all you need to know."
[G.I. Joe] Concealer says, "It's ok, Lifeline said that tonight's challenge was sponsored and organized by AARP."
[G.I. Joe] Temera says, "I'm not even close to that point, thanks."
[G.I. Joe] Concealer says, "AARP is dedicated to people 50 and over but you can sign up at any age and enjoy the discounts. I've signed up thanks to TikTok."
[G.I. Joe] Scarlett says, "They rejected my last application, when they asked for Photo-ID, and I didn't look my age."
