Self-styled 'Queen of Diamonds' KELLY SHARPE is a master of sleight of hand, and close-up magic. Able to flick a card through a mail slot, or hard enough to incapacitate a guard, Limelight has an unorthodox element that makes her all but vital to the G.I. Joe effort. Able to blend in and impersonate anyone, or stand out in a crowd, her versatility aids the Joes' intelligence division.


History

Canonical/Pre-MUX/Theme History:

Kelly Sharpe was born and raised in the city of Cascade, Michigan. The city nowadays revolves around its vibrant gambling industry. She's an attractive sort so she ended up taking a job as the assistant to a doddering old magician's act and learned the trade secrets over a few years. Having been urged on by her younger sister, Kit, her moral anchor, the Joes scouted Kelly after she impressively impersonated both the current President and the Majority Leader of the Senate simultaneously in a live scene! Suffice to say, they also got her out of trouble with the Secret Service.

Apr 16 - HALF THE BATTLE

Three kids are shown playing in a park. There's dogs, people playing catch, and kites flying in the background.

"Come on, let's throw the frisbee around!" "Yeah!" "Alright!"

As the kids get closer to a wooded area, a dangerous looking man appears from out of the shrubbery. He says sinisterly, "You kids ever see a dead body?" The kids all stop and look at him, with surprise. "A body? Whoa! Sounds risky!"

Suddenly a shadow casts over the group and a voice calls out, "That's one chance you don't want to take!"

The camera turns to reveal Limelight, decked out in her jacket and top hat, ever-present grin on her face. The kids are surprised again, "Whoa! Check it out! Its Limelight!"

Limelight addresses the camera, "Hey kids. Sometimes strangers are just people you haven't met, but s---"

CUT!

The camera pulls back to the camera crew on location.

Limelight looks confused, "What? This is the seventh take, I'm nailing this."

Offscreen the director says, "There's a dog taking a dump in the background."

Annoyed, Limelight gestures back, "The bulldog? That is the FIFTH time that dog has had to use the potty. What is WRONG with that dog?" She composes herself and smooths her hair, "Alright, let's go again." She steps back into position and makeup preps her again for her entrance....

Apr 30 - Poker!

There's a big flourishy notice up on the whiteboard in the mess hall about starting a late-night poker game, with slots for signups.

May 11 - Initial Analysis-Convention

Limelight's on the screen. "Been looking through the footage of the convention murder. Now, we had three enemy elements in that area, someone that may or may not have been Snake-Eyes, a group of cosplayers in purple that were working together, and a figure in a more ornate masked cosplay. I've noted this last figure's sole action was to traditionally note the murder. It's a ceremonial move of some kind, though I'm not an expert on Japanese cultures.

What is the most interesting element here is that the purple cosplayers were taken aback by the stabbing. They were caught off guard by the timing of it if nothing else. Nothing specifically determines that the masked cosplayer was working with the others, he also fled moments after the strike was made. At the moment, my belief is that there were two operations running simultaneously, the Snake-Eyes character and the masked man were one, and the purple clad cosplayers were the other."

Aug 20 - Arctic Exploration

Limelight is on screen looking nonplussed, despite the bullet holes in her white faux fur top hat. "NATO had reported some strange sonar blips up north, so this was my first trip up to the Arctic Circle. Not a fan. Team Allliteration (That's myself, Lifeline, and Low-Light) and Wisp moved to investigate. We went to reconnoiter with an independent researching station that had refurbished an oil rig up there, and found Cobra agents. They... they brutally murdered some of the workers there. We moved to engage." She balks a bit, "There were a lot of them. Those robot BATs all over the place. I didn't get a good chance to tell exactly what was going on because they spotted us early. Wisp was gravely injured early on, and it was a good thing Lifeline was on hand. Low-Light was engaged and cruelly hurt as well. I saw mostly nameless troopers but one of my main targets, given his Cockney accent was identified as Barghest. Lots of energy weapons out there too. I provided a screen so we could fall back... not much more we could do, sorry." She gives a helpless shrug.

Aug 22 - Re: Arctic Follow Up

Limelight's back on screen, she's fidgeting with a pencil, doing a constant, and distracting bit of contact juggling with it. "The Joes that scoured the oil rig after that combat have reported no survivors, no data, not much of anything. We do know a little about what these scientists were researching.... given what this Dr Vandermeer said... I think I have an idea."

Anyone who knows that Dr's name knows that he was very much involved in the MASS device, clearly Limelight's leaving that on a 'need to know' basis.

  • September 24 - "Trust Your Teammates" - Training room antics and a long talk with Limelight, Tomas is trying to find his groove again with the Joes.

2024

  • March 23 - "Badlands Bad Hiking" - Strings are pulled and both G.I. Joe and the Autobots are asked to help with the rescue of a hiking group from the Badlands, North Dakota. Time is limited as a winter storm is covering the area with the threat of a blizzard.
