Ogres 「大鬼族, ōga, lit. "Large Oni Tribe"」 are a race of Demi-humans descended from fairies. They are a high-class race, but few in numbers. They're one of the most powerful races in the Great Jura Forest, averaging at B rank.
Appearance
Ogres resemble humans for the most part, but tend to be very muscular and tall, averaging at two meters. They have either one or two horns sprouting from their foreheads. They have very pronounced canine teeth that usually protrude from their mouth, and their skin is usually tinted with some color.
Lifestyle
Most ogres in the Great Jura Forest were said to be uncivilized creatures living in the wild. The ogre village Benimaru and co used to live in, which was civilized, constituted a minority among the species, only housing around 300 ogres.
The ogres in the village had a militaristic culture and were notoriously skilled warriors. Some of the stronger warriors in the village even hired themselves out as mercenaries. If one was planning on subjugating the village with B- rank knights, one would need about 3,000 of them.
History
400 years ago, a group of wounded armored warriors wandered into their village. The ogres decided to take care of them. To express their gratitude, the warriors taught the ogres their techniques and gifted them their armor. One of the warriors knew how to forge katana-styled weapons and eventually succeeded in producing large numbers of them.[1] The Ogre Tribe was attacked by 10,000 orcs. And each one, like the humans, were fully armored in plate mail. Nearly every villager was slaughtered. The village chief and a small group opened up a path for their young master and the princess to escape, with four other subordinates. After the six surviving Ogres were named by Rimuru they evolved into Kijin.
During Rimuru's ascension to a True demon lord, some of the Hobgoblins and Goblinas evolved into Ogres, thus restoring the race's prominence in the Jura Forest.
Abilities
The ogre race has extremely high vitality. They have an average lifespan of about a hundred years, though at least one individual was able to live for more than three hundred years.[2]
They are B-rank on average; however, with training, they can advance to B+ or even A- rank.
The Ogres from Benimaru's village mastered martial arts and Battlewill thanks to the teachings of Byakuya Araki and his compatriot Samurai from another world, which were passed down.
Other Ogre Tribes tend to favor combat focusing on raw strength. They slaughter their enemies by wielding heavy weapons with their brute strength.
