Shuna ｢朱菜, shuna, lit. "Vermilion Vegetable"｣ is a Majin in service to Rimuru Tempest after being named by them. She is Benimaru's younger sister and is Rimuru's chief economic advisor together with Rigurd. She resides in Rimuru City of the Jura-Tempest Federation.
Appearance
Ogre
In her Ogre stage, Shuna was a petite girl with the appearance of a Human girl with the exception of her two large porcelain horns protruding from her forehead.
She has long, wavy, pink hair, coupled with large deep crimson eyes under very light, barely existing eyebrows. She wore a simple pink kimono, covered by a similarly simple white robe that covered her arms in excess. She also had a thin, low-ponytail that was tied using a single small white ribbon.
Her fair skin has a slightly pink tint alongside a couple of tear-like face markings similar to Benimaru, supposedly, to go along with her pink colour scheme, with the addition of two fangs that are long enough to slightly protrude out her lips to add to the "ferocious" theme of the Ogres.
Kijin
After her evolution, she took on the appearance akin to a human girl with a height of 145 centimetres, looking more refined and beautiful compared to her former cute self. Her horns also became narrower as with all Ogre to Kijin evolutions.
The slight pink tint on her skin is gone, as well as the face markings, and fangs that are small to be only visible when she speaks.
Excelling at weaving, she made herself a new white kimono with simple but graceful red embroidery and red kimono skirt that's held in place with a red ribbon, causing Shuna to be mistaken for a miko.
Her appearance mostly stays the same after evolving into an Oni.
Personality
Shuna is a gentle and forgiving girl with keen senses. Being raised as a princess, she also possesses a refined and graceful personality. Rimuru often relies on her regal disposition when it comes to diplomacy with leaders of other nations. Initially, during her introduction, Shuna appeared to be shy and fearful, staying behind Benimaru and Hakurou while they confronted Rimuru. However, once they realized that Rimuru was not responsible for the attack and destruction of their village, they quickly allied with him. Shuna adapted to her new home and developed positive relationships with its inhabitants, showcasing her excellent social skills.
Moreover, Shuna is known for her compassion and empathy. When Rimuru discovered the extent of the tragedy caused by the Kingdom of Falmuth's attack, including the deaths of Shion and Gobzo, he felt guilty. In that moment, Shuna approached him, offering a hug and her unwavering support. She assured Rimuru that she would be there for him whenever he needed anything. As someone who is happy to be depended upon, Shuna finds contentment in her role under Rimuru, given her sheltered upbringing in the Ogre tribe. Even a little responsibility brings her joy.
However, it is important not to underestimate Shuna, as she can be remarkably competitive in certain areas. For instance, when appointed as Rimuru's close aide and tasked with personally taking care of him, her determination is evident. Shuna, along with Shion, unintentionally pulls on Rimuru to the point of tearing him in half due to their eagerness. Similar to Shion, she takes every opportunity to cuddle with Rimuru in his blob form. Additionally, Shuna showcases her femininity and skill in weaving silk on a loom. She assumes the responsibility of clothing everyone in their fledgling village and has already woven several rolls of silk.
Trivia
- Her dub voice, Tia Ballard, also played the voice of Zero Two from "Darling in the Franxx" who has a similar appearance of a young girl with sakura pink hair and two oni-like horns.
- Shuna is Rimuru's True Secretary despite the title being held by Shion and later Diablo.
