Despair ｢Japanese: 絶望, Hepburn: zetsubō｣ is the thirty-first episode of the anime adaptation of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and the seventh episode of the second season.
Synopsis
Rimuru survives his fight with Hinata and returns to Tempest just to find that the city was attacked and many of his subjects were killed. In preparation for another attack from Falmuth, Rimuru gathers his council and is informed of the situation.

Summary
Rimuru faced grave danger in the battle with Hinata, but managed to escape in the nick of time by using a doppelganger to take the damage while the real body hid nearby, leaving Hinata unaware that she killed a decoy. She then leaves, believing that she had successfully avenged Shizu. Rimuru reveals himself shortly after Hinata's departure, pleased that she fell for the doppelganger, but also frustrated of how stubborn she is. He and Ranga then head back to Tempest. Upon arrival, Rimuru creates a opening through the barrier and finds the city in a tragic state, engulfed by blood and smoke. Benimaru tries to capture Mjurran, the top suspect behind this disaster, but Youm (who has feelings for Mjurran) and Grucius stand in his way, knowing that she isn't doing this willingly. Swallowing their rage and grief, Rimuru realizes who their true enemy is and calmly questions Mjurran instead of punishing her.
