Chosen One ｢英雄覇道, erabareshi mono, lit. "Hero's Ambition"｣ is a Unique skill that was acquired by Rudra during the days prior to his rivalry with Guy Crimson. He eventually lost the ability due to his repeated reincarnations tearing away at his soul, but the power was regained after he was reborn as Masayuki Honjou and crossed back over into the Central World.
Abilities
Chosen One is an outrageous ability that approaches the level of an Ultimate skill in performance. It can completely turn the tide of battle in favor of the user just from being active. The only way to resist the manipulative aspects of this Skill is to be in possession of a Unique or Ultimate skill. It is also a Passive Skill ｢常時発動型, passhibu sukiru, lit. "Always Active-Type"｣.
Much to his own dismay, Masayuki was originally unable to control most of its abilities. But he was able to slowly gain some level of mastery over it and turn it off when needed.[1]
Sub-Skills
- Banner of the Supreme King ｢英魂道導, hasha no yorube, Yen Press: "Heroic Recourse"｣: Allows the user to call upon their fallen allies and replicate their abilities, memories, and experience inside the user.
- Hero's Action ｢英雄行動, eiyū kōdō｣: Guides the user's allies down the path of becoming heroes, eventually making their name famous.
- Hero's Blessing ｢英雄補正, eiyū hosei｣: Bestows the user and their allies with immense "luck". In practice this results in normally lethal attacks not dealing nearly their normal damage and the user and their allies attacks dealing the most damage possible. This also makes all actions of the user being viewed in a positive light, no matter what it is.
- Hero's Charisma ｢英雄魅了, eiyū miryō｣: Empowers the user's allies with immense courage that enables them to fight even in the most desperate situations. It also has the effect of turning defeated enemies into allies. This effect also applies to monsters with the notable exception of undead.
- Hero's Haki ｢英雄覇気, eiyū haki｣
Conditions
Chosen One is a peculiar skill as it had four conditions that needed to be fulfilled to unlock more of its powers. The first two conditions were fulfilled soon after Masayuki crossed back over to the Central World during Opening of the Monster City, while the last two conditions were fulfilled during the events of End of the Game shortly before Masayuki reunited with Velgrynd.
- Courageous Action ｢勇気ある行動, yūki aru kōdō｣ unlocked Chosen One itself as well as Hero's Haki and Hero's Blessing.
- Courage to Stand Up to ｢立ち向かう勇気, tachimukau yūki｣ unlocked Hero's Charisma and Hero's Action.
- Courage not to Run Away ｢逃げない勇気, nigenai yūki｣ unlocked Banner of the Supreme King.
- True Love ｢真実の愛, shinjitsu no ai｣ allowed Chosen One to evolve into True Hero.
