Biography

In Season One, he has a few cameos along the season. He first appears during the barbecue organized by his parents shortly the baptism of his younger brother Samuel in the fourth episode. In Christmas, his father works hard to find a Nerf Nitro gun toy for him but even though most stores no longer have said toy, Deacon's teammate Hondo manages to find one for Deacon to take to Matthew. He also appears in the hospital and he and Lila are comforted by their father when their mother Annie suffered a stroke and was undergoing a surgery to solve it. He appears in the end of the penultimate episode of the season when Hondo joins the Kay family in a friendly dinner.

In Season Three, Matthew and his family are attacked by South American motorcyclists working for Colombian former general Emiliano Murido twice, with the second attack getting the entire Kay residence shot up. This forces Deacon to bring his wife and children to the headquarters to spend the night there. Fortunately, Deacon and his 20-Squad teammates arrest Murido and his crew, allowing the Kay family to return home with no more concerns.

In Season Six, he is seen in the S.W.A.T. HeadQuarters as his father teaches him basic Boxing combinations. He had sustained a black eye during a fight and got suspended. The kid that beat up Matthew, Geoff, accuses the latter of starting the fight, which gets confirmed by his mother, who informs Annie that her son looked worst through a picture. Matthew eventually confesses to his father to have started the fight with Geoff in retaliation for him calling Deacon a killer and saying that their house deserved to get shot up. Deacon teaches his son through the gospel of Matthew that they must be better than their enemies by showing kindness and forgiveness for their wrong actions instead of anger. Remorseful, Matthew decides to apologize to Geoff and his family.
