"Good Cop" is the twelfth episode of the third season in the remake version of S.W.A.T., and the fifty-seventh episode overall, which was aired on January 22, 2020.

Summary

After the revelation of Street "quitting" SWAT was a ploy for him to infiltrate Nolan's drug ring, the SWAT team goes all out to help him bust Nolan and the other supplier. However, things went personal for Street when his foster brother, Nate was murdered by Nolan.

Recap

Jim pulls off a sting with Hondo in on it. He is officially working undercover and is believable. He meets up with Hondo and Commander Hicks at a motel to tell them about Nolan, their latest target, a drug supplier, who he has befriended. SWAT plans to find out how they are moving the drugs. Jim tells Hondo it's been tough; he can't answer any texts from his friends and family. He needs to help his foster brother Nate though, who is caught up in this whole thing.

Hondo and Hicks finally decide to tell the rest of the team about Jim's undercover work and their plan to take down the drug dealers. SWAT suits up and heads to one of the known drug houses to find the heroin. They dress up like gang bangers and not cops.

Street gets word about a big meeting with Nolan and a new supplier. He tells Hondo and the others. They tell him they are going to get back-up for him. Jim heads back to see Nolan pretend he has intel on the police set to bust them. Jim gets on Nolan's good side. He learns that a shipment of drugs is coming in tonight. He informs Hondo.

Hondo tells the team. He senses the rest of the team are angry. They share that they are mad that they were kept in the dark for 2 weeks about Jim. He explains that it was for safety.

Street heads to see Nate and tells him to get out of town. He cannot tell him why he just needs him to trust. Nate listens and packs.

The team stays out of sight at the location where the drugs are coming in. They watch Nolan and Street interact from a distance, but they cannot move in yet. They get the signal from Jim and bust them. They don't find any drugs though.

The next day, they all try to find a way to find drugs. They did something tricky. Hicks welcomes Street back. Street heads to talk to Chris, who tells him she was hurt and worried. He wants to go back to the way things were.

Hondo and Deacon head back to the scene of the drug bust. They figure out that Nolan and his supplier walked away with the drugs, after all, using cardboard boxes. They need to move fast. Those boxes are gone and so aren’t the men.

Street heads to check on Nate and finds him dead. He calls the team. They arrive. It looks like Nate left papers of Nolan's behind, but he doesn't know what they mean. Jim excuses himself for a minute and then disappears to go after Nolan.

Hondo tracks down Street. He is waiting outside of a house that Nolan is inside of. He hasn't gone in yet. He is thinking about what to do and why Nate didn't listen to him. Hondo tells him they have video footage putting Nate's murder on Nolan. He is going down. Meanwhile, the team has located the factory where Nolan’s supplier is working to extract the heroin from the cardboard boxes. They make their way in and bust the washers and Nolan’s supplier.

Back at headquarters, the team celebrates and forgives one another for the secrecy of Jim's mission.

Quotes

Tan: What's with the 4 AM SOS?
Deacon: We're not on early call, what's goin' on?
Hicks: We need a privacy
Hondo: Alright, listen up... There's something Commander Hicks & I had to keep from you. We wanna tell you earlier, but the operation is only approved if we can keep the circle really small.
Chris: What's this got to do with Street?
Hondo: Two weeks ago, Street came to me and Hicks asking for help. His foster brother, Nate. Found himself in trouble with a crew down in Long Beach. Turns out Nate was a witness to a large-scale heroin smuggling operation.
Hicks: Though it operates down in Long Beach, the reach of the network comes all the way to L.A. and given his relationship with Nate and his history both with Long Beach and SWAT, we agreed to plant Street within the organization as a "disgraced member of the LAPD".
Deacon: He's been undercover this entire time?
Tan: We watch him quit; it was all theatre?
Hondo: Not so much for any of you, but for the civilian and non-SWAT crowd that was there that day. We need a word to spread that Street is truly done for good, that he had burned bridges.
Chris: He could've trust us with this....
Hicks: It's an unfortunate necessity. Like it or not, your reaction to Street "quitting" help sell his cover.
Hondo: Let me be very clear: Every call was authorized by me, so if you have a gripe, you take it up with me, but you do it later. Right now, we got work to do.
