Baba Buoys is a water and accuracy challenge that debuted in Survivor: Kaôh Rōng and reappeared internationally in Survivor South Africa: Philippines.
Rules
Starting from a platform in the ocean, one member of each tribe will swim to a buoy marker, dive down and untie knots, releasing more buoys. Tribe members would then corral the buoys to shore and place them on a rack before shooting the buoys into a basket. The first tribe (or tribes) to shoot ten buoys into the basket wins.
History
The challenge debuted as a Reward Challenge in Survivor: Kaôh Rōng, where Michele Fitzgerald struggled with retrieving the buoys for Chan Loh and gave Gondol a massive lead heading into the ball toss. Former NBA player Scot Pollard capitalized on this lead and shot ten hoops first to win his tribe a picnic reward.
In Survivor South Africa: Philippines, the challenge was played for immunity. Mindanao struggled in the water, allowing Luzon and Visayas to gain a sizeable lead on the hoops. Katinka Oosthuizen beat Vusi Mafulela in scoring Luzon's tenth hoop, giving Luzon a first-place finish with Visayas finishing second.
