Pot Head

Pot Head (also known as Price On Your Head) is a recurring Survivor challenge.

Rules

In Guatemala, the castaways would balance a Mayan pot on their head for an hour while standing on a perch. After the 60 minutes had elapsed, the remaining contestants would race up the steps of a temple. The first person to reach the top without dropping their pot wins.

In South Pacific, the castaways must place a pot on their head and balance it. They would have to race over a series of balance beams to deposit rice in a bowl at the end. The first person to completely fill their bowl with rice wins.

History

United States

The challenge debuted in Survivor: Guatemala, where the power alliance (minus Judd and Cindy) chose to sit and watch the contestants while feasting. In the end, Gary beat everyone up the pyramid and won immunity.

In Survivor: South Pacific, the top 9 raced to fill up their bowl with rice. In a tight race, Sophie beat everyone else to win.

In Champions, the challenge appeared as the first individual Immunity Challenge. The Juara tribe had to transfer pots of salt across two teeter-totter obstacles and dump the salt into a bowl on a seesaw. Once the bowl is full enough, the seesaw will tip, raising the lid of a crate of puzzle pieces. Zavion Kotze was the first to fill his bowl, but the tribe eventually equalized at the finish due to the difficulty of the puzzle. However, Zavion capitalized on his lead to solve his puzzle first, winning the first Immunity Necklace of the season.

In Immunity Island, the challenge was used ahead of the Double Tribal Council. The castaways could decide whether to play for reward or for a visit to Immunity Island and thus receive individual immunity at Tribal Council. The last person standing for each match wins the prize. The last person standing for the reward contest will win boerewors rolls for their tribe, as well as a double portion of boerewors, dessert, and beer for themselves. That tribe will also get the chance to watch the other tribe's Tribal Council. In the immunity contest, Thoriso M-Afrika dropped out almost immediately, giving Anesu Mbizvo the win. After 7 minutes in the reward contest, only Nicole Wilmans and Tyson Zulu, both members of Vuna, were left in the challenge. 10 minutes in, Tyson fell, giving Nicole the double helping of boerewors.
