Overview

Shicka is the main deuteragonist in Super Bear Adventure. She seems to be a very smart best friend to Baaren. She often aids Baaren by using her knowledge to tell him how to avoid traps, boss attacks, and how to activate certain mechanics or even helps protect him by using her own skills.

Characteristics

Personality

Shicka seemed to be very aware of situations and being able to guide Baaren without moving a muscle. She is a smart backpacker and is a great guide to Baaren when he doesn't know where to be, which shows how talkative she is.

She is seen to be also strategic, as seen in the final boss when she said that we can't hurt the boss yet as we need to dodge the attacks first before attacking ourselves.

Physical Appearance

Shicka is described to be a species of backpackers. They look like yellow chicks with blue bellies and straps with an orange beak and black button eyes. Moreover, they have two strands of hair, with a yellow to light blue upward gradient.

Abilities

Even though she is rather small, she can carry quite a number of keys, up to 7 in fact. More on keys here.

In the Hive, when she is giant, she has only two abilities to use in battle. They include:

Spin (press B)
Long Jump (press A)

She can also use these abilities to:

Deflect projectiles (spin)
Destroy purple spikes (spin)
Do parkour (long jump)

Relationships

Baaren

She is a helpful friend and very dependent of Baaren, considering that she is his backpacker. Baaren is the one who runs around and saves bears, while Shicka is the one who gives tips and tricks to Baaren. She is also shown to willingly sacrifice herself to protect Baaren as seen in the cutscene with the final boss, where she shields Baaren from the incoming laser.

Trivia

She was planned to be a human doll, then was changed to a frog, but was changed to a chick for the final product, But due to being a chick and Baaren being a bear, this made the coincidence of being similar to Banjo-Kazooie and Duo Duck Hunt. Many people complained that the game ripped off the franchise, but the dev wasn't aware of the franchise while he was developing the game at that time.
She is very similar from Chica from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise in a few ways:
- They are both chicks/chickens.
- Their names sound very similar.
- They are both female.
- Earthkwak has also confirmed that her name is inspired by Chica, as the developer said on the Discord server that he used to be a big FNAF fan back in 2014.
She isn't the only backpacker, there are other backpackers as seen on inhabitants in different levels.
There is an Easter egg behind the frozen waterfall in the Snow Valley entrance, where a giant Shicka is frozen in a big ice block.
- This led to speculations where that giant Shicka could be a distant ancestor of Shicka, or the other Backpackers.
She is the deuteragonist, but her color scheme, yellow and blue, is used by the dev as the main color scheme instead of Baaren's color scheme, despite Baaren being the mascot and the protagonist of the game.
A dialogue from a cutscene, she says "That's very you." This could hint at her knowing Baaren in the past, or just her finding him sleeping beside a tree.
