Trituna is an underwater Zone that lies somewhere off the bay of the Beanson Coast Zone. Being in the ocean, all the inhabitants are marine creatures that cannot breathe on land. Despite this, Agent X visited Trituna with a serum that would allow the residents to survive outside water. In exchange, they must defeat Sonic the Hedgehog and will be able to rule a land Zone as a reward.
Sharka Khan was the former Zone Leader of Trituna and encouraged his strongest fighters to fulfill Agent X's wishes and defeat Sonic. The hedgehog proved to be strong and the serum wore off, sending the champions back to Trituna. Sonic (now able to swim) followed and exposed Khan as a coward, planning to run off and start a new Zone away from Trituna. The warriors apologised for attacking Sonic and decided to rule Trituna on their own.
Residents
Almost everyone in Trituna has a name that is a parody of a real-life celebrity. For example, Sharka Khan is based on "Chaka Khan".

- This area is the first city of aquatic life presented in Sonic the Hedgehog media. Years later, the Archie comics would present Meropsis. Unlike Trituna, Meropsis has frendlier and more sympathetic inhabitants with similar builds to the SEGA characters.
