Story
Sonic the Hedgehog has agreed to do an autograph session in the Metropolis Zone and the line is huge. Sonic doesn't like sitting around too long, so he tries signing an autograph super-fast - unfortunately, this sets the paper on fire! Nearby, "Collector Supreme" Ryan Baggit decides to put his plan to action and offers Sonic his special pad and pen. When the two connect, a forcefield forms around Sonic and the hedgehog is quickly trapped. The waiting fans of Sonic try and free their hero, but are easily repelled by the shield. Baggit states he may use Sonic as a paperweight and announces himself as "king of collectors", but he is suddenly interrupted by his main rival, Norris Wimple.
Wimple challenges Baggit to a trivia quiz for Sonic's freedom, something Baggit can't refuse. Unfortunately, after a brief run of success, Wimple is defeated and Baggit gets to keep Sonic. However, the hedgehog begins to roll his forcefield towards Baggit, keen to electrocute him. To save himself, Baggit cuts the power, giving Sonic the chance to charge his captor. With Baggit out for the count, Wimple is now receiving autograph requests for his part in Sonic's victory and wishes to team up with Sonic again one day. Baggit is happy as well, since we was the recipient of a Spin Attack!
Quiz
Questions
Beginning with Wimple, each contestant took it in turns to ask the other questions about Sonic's history. Each piece of trivia is a reference to an older STC story. Below are the quiz's questions, with the answers coming shortly after:
- Wimple: "What manner of creature was Fleabyte the Bounty Hunter?"
- Baggit: "What colour was the cloak worn by Commander Brutus?"
- Wimple: "What is the name of Ebony's best friend?"
- Baggit: "How did Sonic defeat the Master Sentinel?"
Notably, two of the questions have nothing to do with Sonic. Furthermore, only one answer should be common enough knowledge for a general member of the public.
Answers
- 1. A bionic cat (See Fox On The Run in Issue 73)
- 2. Red, with a hint of crimson (See Project Brutus in Issue 63)
- 3. Pyjamas (See Roots in Issue 94)
- 4. He pulled its mechanics out (See Best of Enemies in Issue 118)
Wimple answered the last correction incorrectly, guessing that Sonic gave it "a good talking to". The Issues where the answers could be found were given in caption boxes by Megadroid.
Trivia
- Baggit's pad contains no paper, so it isn't clear how one could write on the electronic device.
- The idea of the villain deactivating his device to improve a situation is similar to the story "Doctor Genius".
