«It was a temptor. That wasn't its tail--it was its tongue.»
―Meedro, to Wicket Wystri Warrick[2]

Temptors were a type of quadrupedal creature found in the forests of the moon Endor. The long-necked creature had a brown leathery skin and 5 pairs of black eyes. To hunt in the wilderness, temptors were also equipped with small but sharp teeth in their jaws, as well as a long fur-tipped tongue to lure targets; perfect for an ambush against unsuspecting prey.

In 4 ABY, the Ewok Wicket Wystri Warrick unknowingly released a trapped temptor, thinking it was a verkle due to its fuzzy tongue. Another Ewok Meedro rescued Warrick and pierced the creature's tail, which caused the temptor to sever its tail and flee.

Biology and appearance

Temptor-SWB

Temptors were long-necked, leathery skinned quadrupeds that lived on the forest moon of Endor[2] in the Outer Rim Territories.[3] The creatures had ten eyes, small but sharp teeth in their powerful jaws, and barbel-like tendrils around their mouths. Temptors were ambush predators, using their long fur-tipped tongues as lures that mimic the tails of much less formidable animals, such as the verkle, to draw in their prey. As a defense mechanism, temptors could detach their tails when threatened as a means of escape.[2]

History

«This isn't my first trap, Meedro, relax! You think I'm afraid of some fuzzy-tailed vurkle?»
―Wicket Wystri Warrick, to Meedro, unaware of the temptor's tongue[2]

In 4 ABY,[4] following the Rebel's victory on Endor against the Empire; the Ewok[2] Wicket Wystri Warrick[5] encoutered a full trap at the Happy Grove Forest, thinking it was a verkle after seeing what he thought was its fuzzy tail. Another Ewok Meedro had realized what the trap actually caught and quickly warned Warrick to stop; however, the young Ewok did not listen and opened the trap. A temptor immediately jumped out and struck Warrick, though he defended himself with a spear. Meedro then told Warrick to run as he pierced the temptor's tail, causing it to sever its tail and run away.[2]

Behind the scenes

Temptors, albeit unidentified, first appeared in the video game Star Wars Battlefront, which was developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts[6] on November 17, 2015.[7] The species was later identified the in 2015 non-canonical video game Disney Infinity 3.0, which was developed by Avalanche Software.[8]
