A soul was an aspect of an individual.^[2] It was said that one's eyes were a window into their soul.^[3] The soul of the varactyl beast was described as simpler and purer than that of a sentient. Despite this, the creature was still intelligent in its own way.^[2] A neural core was understood as effectively the soul of a droid.^[4]

According to the Poetics of a Jedi text written by Jedi Master Lyr Farseeker, the heart of a Jedi could move souls.^[1] Former Tempest Runner Pan Eyta believed the dark eyes of Marchion Ro,^[5] a member of the Evereni species,^[6] looked soulless.^[5] The late veteran Admiral Gial Ackbar's son, Aftab Ackbar believed that his soul was in the Mourning Shrines on Mon Cala, while visiting with General Leia Organa.^[7]
