- "This is neutral space!"
"It won't be neutral for long—not if the Separatists have their way." - ―Wag Too and Anakin Skywalker
The Maridun system was a remote star system located in the Rolion sector of the Outer Rim Territories, and contained the planet Maridun,[1] which was orbited by a single star.[3] Situated at grid square Q-6 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[2] the Maridun system was part of neutral space during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems.[4]
At some point doing during the Clone Wars, several members of the Lurmen species fled their home planet Mygeeto to the Maridun system, where they hoped to find solace from the battling.[5] Later in 21 BBY,[6] Maridun was invaded[5] by the Separatist Droid Army led by Neimoidian General Lok Durd, who had sought to test a new weapon on the planetary wildlife, including the Lurmen.[4] However, Republic forces, who had crash-landed on the planet from a previous battle,[3] helped to protect the Lurmen from being wiped out, resulting in the destruction of the weapon and the capture of Durd.[4]
Behind the scenes
The Maridun system first appeared in "Jedi Crash,"[3] the thirteenth episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on January 16, 2009.[7] The system was later first identified in the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars.[1] The Maridun system was originally first identified in the Star Wars Legends continuity in The Essential Atlas, a reference book authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, and published on August 18, 2009.[8]
