Lipsec Run

This article covers the Canon version of this subject.  Click here for Wookieepedia's article on the Legends version of this subject.

"We've recieved several requests for aid from Sump and Shuraden. We've gotten word Merokia has cut off all ties to E'ronoh. This now affecting the trades routes in the Koradin sector."
"And the Lipsec Run."
―Orlen Mollo and Wix discuss the Eiram and E'ronoh War[7]

The Lipsec Run was a Outer Rim Territories and Western Reaches hyperspace route that ran from the astronomical object Lipsec to the planet Eriadu, which acted as a junction onto the Hydian Way and Rimma Trade Route. The Lipsec Run also had a junction on to the Corellian Trade Spine at the world Isde Naha.

In 382 BBY, the Eiram and E'ronoh War effected trade on the Lipsec Run and trade routes in the Koradin sector, leading worlds to request aid from the Galactic Republic. Supreme Chancellor Orlen Mollo then requested the aid of the Jedi in order to end the conflict and the impacted it was having on the wider galaxy.

Description

Eriadu TEA

The Lipsec Run was a hyperspace route located in the Outer Rim Territories and Western Reaches. One terminus was at the celestial body Lipsec, which it connected to the Virgillia system, before passing through[5] the Galactic Frontier planet[8] Shuraden, then[5] the planet[9] Sump, which acted as a junction onto a hyperspace route to[5] the Eiram system.[7] From Sump, the Lipsec Run connected to[5] the planet[10] Merokia and then[5] the planet[11] Taul,[5] before reaching the world[12] Isde Naha, which acted as a junction onto the Corellian Trade Spine.[6]

From Isde Naha, the Lipsec Run then traveled to the astronomical objects Bettel and Mev,[6] before reaching[5] the planet[13] Actlyon and moving on to[5] the Rycep asteroid belt[14] and then the Wretch of Tayron.[5] The Lipsec Run then terminated at the planet Eriadu, a junction onto the Hydian Way and Rimma Trade Route located in the Eriadu system of the Seswenna sector in the Greater Seswenna.[2] The Lipsec Run ran through squares I-18, J-18, K-18, K-19, L-19, L-18, and M-18 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[5]

History

"Entire worlds dependent on imported food are starving. Twice now we've had to undertake extensive remapping to keep the hyperlanes functioning and clear of the scourge of pirates picking off the spoils of war."
―Orlen Mollo[7]

In 382 BBY,[15] the war between the planets Eiram and E'ronoh in the Eiram system began to effect the trade routes in the Koradin sector and the Lipsec Run, with entire worlds that were dependant on imported foods beginning to starve. Merokia cut off all ties to E'ronoh and Sump and Shuraden requested aid from the Galactic Republic, which undertook extensive remapping on two occasions in order to keep the functioning and clear of pirates targeting spoils from the war.[7]

During a discussion with the Jedi Masters Char-Ryl-Roy and Creighton Sun, Supreme Chancellor of the Republic Orlen Mollo brought up the impacts that the war was having on the hyperlanes, with the Nautolan aide Wix reminding him of the effect on the Lipsec Run. Mollo stated that the wider impact meant that the Republic needed to end the conflict for the good of the galaxy and requested the Jedi's aide in the matter.[7]

In 34 ABY,[16] the Lipsec Run was included on a partial map of the galaxy displayed on screens on board Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon while it traveled from the Core Worlds' Chandrila system to the Outer Rim Territories.[17]

Behind the scenes

Lords of the Expanse

The Lipsec Run was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a map in the eighteenth issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon, which was published by De Agostini[6] around May 6, 2015.[18] The route's first in-universe appearance then took place when it was depicted on a map viewable in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida[17] that opened to the public on March 1, 2022.[19]

The Lipsec Run originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Lords of the Expanse, a 1997 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game that was written by Paul Sudlow and Chris Doyle and published by West End Games.[20] It was then depicted for the first time in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace.[21]

The French release of "Scarif and Other Planets in the Outer Rim,"[22] a July 20, 2021[23] installment of De Agostini's Star Wars Encyclopedia series of reference booklets, erroneously describes the Lipsec Run as being part of the Expansion Region,[22] contradicting the map show in Build the Millennium Falcon.[6] The later English release of the book corrected this error, replacing the mention of the Expansion Region with the "Western Extensions," another name for the Western Reaches.[1]
